Verification Process for Teachers in Special Settings (VPSS) VPSS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

I agree to participate in the San Diego County Office of Education’s (SDCOE) Verification Process for Teachers in Special Settings (VPSS) Program. Upon completion of this Two Tier Program, the program instructor(s) will make a recommendation to the Human Resource Department of SDCOE. SDCOE will then send me an electronic VPSS Certificate of Completion.

San Diego County Office of Education’s VPSS Program will: 1) Offer an approved VPSS curriculum that meets California State Board of Education VPSS guidelines and results in fulfilling the subject matter competence component of NCLB’s Highly Qualified Teacher requirements. 2) Maintain records of VPSS completion and issue VPSS Certificate of Completion at the end of each tier. 3) Ensure VPSS instructors respond to participant emails within 24 - 72 hours 4) Ensure VPSS instructors respond/grade assignments within one - two weeks of submission. 5) Ensure SDCOE technology support is provided in a timely manner.

I agree to, and understand the following conditions as an SDCOE VPSS participant. I will: 1) Complete all portions of online material, including all survey/evaluation instruments and resubmit any assignments or assessments that do not meet program standards. 2) Complete all assignments: view all videos; submit all writing, reading and reflection assignments; and participate in online forums. 3) Submit work that is college level. All assignments will reflect correct spelling, punctuation and grammar. 4) Submit only original work. If another reference is utilized it must be cited. Plagiarism will result in being dropped from the class. 5) Meet all timelines and assignment deadlines. This includes on time arrival for live math classes. Communicate in a timely manner with the program instructor or SDCOE technology support, if a problem arises. 6) Interact with instructors and other participants in a professional manner. 7) Seek course postponement if consistently meeting course submission deadlines becomes a problem. Course postponements will be granted on a case by case basis by SDCOE Human Resource Director. 8) Participants must officially drop a class via email to [email protected] or [email protected] or they will be considered enrolled and will result in the registration fee being charged. 9) SDCOE’s VPSS Program allows for 1 dropped class free of charge. The full registration fee will be charged for the second dropped class.
