Dental Public Health Resources Statements for State Oral Health Programs

ASTDD develops and disseminates evidence-based white papers and other dental public health resource statements in support of states’ priority issues. White papers, issue briefs and other public health resource statements can be used to assist state oral health programs and ASTDD in program planning, education and advocacy efforts.

Dental public health resource statements can be used to:

 Highlight what programs and services work

 Facilitate efficacious use of resources

 Set program priorities

 Guide planning of programs and services

 Build community support for programs or services

 Inform policymakers about best practices

 Advocate for funding

 Support grant applications

 Promote education and training

 Identify gaps in current knowledge and public health approaches

 Support further research and development of public health approaches
