Katedra ekologie a životního prostředí PřF UP v Olomouci, 53 stran, anglicky Abstrakt Předkládaná diplomová práce se skládá ze dvou samostatných manuskriptů, prezentujících část širšího výzkumu prováděného ve městech Olomouci, Jičíně a Hodoníně. První manuskript se zabývá výskytem suchozemských stejnonožců a mnohonožek ve městě Olomouci. Studovaní živočichové byli získáváni od dubna do prosince 2006 pomocí zemních pastí rozmístěných na 30 lokalitách. Na každé lokalitě byly vyhodnoceny základní environmentální charakteristiky. Tepelná extrakce půdních vzorků a individuální sběr byly použity jako doplňkové metody. Celkem bylo zaznamenáno 17 druhů suchozemských stejnonožců (7 719 jedinců) a 19 druhů mnohonožek (3 488 jedinců). Nejdůležitějším faktorem pro obě skupiny byla umělost, jejíž vliv byl většinou negativní. Nejzajímavějšími faunistickými výsledky byly nález stejnonožce Armadillidium nasatum (mediteránní druh nalezený ve skleníku Botanické zahrady), Androniscus roseus, Haplophtalmus danicus (druhá známá lokalita na Moravě) a mnohonožka Oxidus gracilis (exotický druh pocházející pravděpodobně z Japonska, v Olomouci i mimo skleníky). Druhý příspěvek je věnován fauně stonožek a mnohonožek Jičína a Hodonína. Živočichové byli získáváni metodou zemních pastí, tepelnou extrakcí z půdních vzorků a individuálním sběrem po dobu 12 měsíců (2006-07). Hodnocenými environmentálními faktory byly množství opadu, bylinný pokryv, stromový zápoj, půdní struktura, umělost, pH a množství humusu a vápníku v půdě. Celkem jsme získali 1 056 stonožek (20 druhů) a 1 890 mnohonožek (24 druhů). Mnohorozměrné techniky, provedené na datovém souboru z odchytů zemních pastí, potvrdily jako nejdůležitější faktory obsah humusu v půdě a množství opadu. Nejzajímavějšími faunistickými výsledky byl první nález stonožky Henia vesuviana v České republice a nové lokality druhů Schendyla montana, Geophilus pygmaeus, Geophilus oligopus, Allajulus nitidus a jedinců jeskynního rodu Brachychaeteuma. Master Thesis, Department of Ecology and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science, Palacky University of Olomouc, 53 pp., in English Abstract The submitted thesis is composed of two individual manuscripts. They present a part of a wider research project, conducted in cities of Olomouc, Jičín and Hodonín. The first manuscript deals with distribution of terrestrial isopods and millipedes in the city of Olomouc. Studied animals were obtained by pitfall trapping from April to December 2006 in 30 localities. In each locality basic environmental characteristics were evaluated. Heat extraction of soil samples and individual hand collection were used as additional methods. A total of 17 species of terrestrial isopods (7,719 ind.) and 19 species of millipedes (3,488 ind.) were recorded. The most important factor for both groups appears to be artificiality; the response is mostly negative. The most interesting faunistical records from Olomouc were isopods Armadillidium nasatum (Mediterranean species found in the greenhouses of the Botanical Garden), Androniscus roseus, Haplophtalmus danicus (only the second known locality from Moravia) and the millipede species Oxidus gracilis (exotic species probably originating from Japan, in Olomouc recorded also outside the greenhouse). The second manuscript is devoted to centipede and millipede faunas of Jičín and Hodonín. Animals were collected using pitfall traps, heat extraction of soil samples and individual hand collecting during 12 months (2006-07). The evaluated environmental characteristics were amount of litter, herbal coverage, canopy coverage, soil structure, artificiality, pH, amount of humus and amount of calcium. In total 1,056 individuals of centipedes (20 species) and 1,890 individuals of millipedes (24 species) were caught. Multivariate techniques that were made on data set from pitfall traps revealed that amount of humus and leaf litter were the most important factors for distribution of myriapods. The most interesting faunistic results were the first record of centipede Henia vesuviana in the Czech Republic and new localities of species Schendyla montana, Geophilus pygmaeus, Geophilus oligopus, Allajulus nitidus and individuals of the cave genus Brachychaeteuma. Soil macrofauna have been reported to be a potential bio indicator of soil health and quality. This research has been conducted at PT. Socfindo Kebun Aek Loba in February 2017- April 2018. The difference in the length of time of utilization and management of plantation land in each generation also determines the presence, both species, density, relative density, and the frequency of the presence of soil macrofauna. This research was conducted to determine the species richness, density and attendance frequency of soil macrofauna on oil palm plantation land of PT. Socfin Indonesia (Socfindo) Aek Loba plantation area. Determination of the sampling point is done by the Purposive Random Sampling method, soil macrofauna sampling using the Quadraticand Hand Sorting methods with a size of 30x30 cm. There are 29 species of soil macrofauna which are grouped into 2 phyla, 3 classes, 11 orders, 21 families, and 27 genera. The highest density value is in the Generation II area of 401.53 ind / m2 and the lowest density value is in the Generation IV area of 101.59 ind / m2.

ABSTRACT The monophyly of Crustacea, relationships of crustaceans to other arthropods, and internal phylogeny of Crustacea are appraised via parsimony analysis in a total evidence frame­ work. Data include sequences from three nuclear ribosomal genes, four nuclear coding genes, and two mitochondrial genes, together with 352 characters from external morphol­ ogy, internal anatomy, development, and mitochondrial gene order. Subjecting the com­ bined data set to 20 different parameter sets for variable gap and transversion costs, crusta­ ceans group with hexapods in Tetraconata across nearly all explored parameter space, and are members of a monophyletic Mandibulata across much of the parameter space. Crustacea is non-monophyletic at low indel costs, but monophyly is favored at higher indel costs, at which morphology exerts a greater influence. The most stable higher-level crusta­ cean groupings are Malacostraca, Branchiopoda, Branchiura + Pentastomida, and an ostracod-cirripede group. For combined data, the Thoracopoda and Maxillopoda concepts are unsupported, and Entomostraca is only retrieved under parameter sets of low congruence. Most of the current disagreement over deep divisions in Arthropoda (e.g., Mandibulata versus Paradoxopoda or Cormogonida versus Chelicerata) can be viewed as uncertainty regarding the position of the root in the arthropod cladogram rather than as fundamental topological disagreement as supported in earlier studies (e.g., Schizoramia versus Mandibulata or Atelocerata versus Tetraconata).

The main idea of the experiment is the educational one in the idea of knowing the practice of an agriculture based on ecological concepts and also adding the concept of the biodynamic. The specific aims are: identifying the general measures of prevention and reduction of the attack of the pests and finding ways in order to maintaining the population of the invertebrates under the pest limit. The evaluation and classification of the invertebrates/insects was done in accordance with their food. The specific methods applied in the field were: the observation upon the elements of the biocoenocis, collecting of the biological material directly from the plants. In the lab, on the base of the determinatives there were identified the beneficial and pest invertebrates fauna.

Richard Kelly has secured a post at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and I am sure all BMIG members would join me in wishing him well in his future career. I would like to thank Richard for his efforts in refreshing and updating this publication and overseeing its transition to an electronic format. I am not intending to do more than step in as editor on an interim basis. I expect that a new Newsletter Editor will be elected at the AGM in March next year. Most of the other officers within the group will come to the end of their term at the same time. Most members appear reluctant to come forward and offer their time but we do need to involve more new people in running BMIG to ensure continuity. I outline the roles coming up for election in this newsletter and urge you to contact me or the Hon. Secretary Helen Read for more details or if you are interested in being nominated. The AGM will be held during the annual field meeting and this year we are gathering at the Crown Inn in Longtown, Herefordshire from 22nd to 25th March with a view to recording in Wales. This issue contains more details of the meeting and further information and a booking form can be found on the BMIG website. Amazingly new species to Britain continue to be found, no less than four such species are reported below; three millipedes, Cranogona dalensi, Cylindroiulus pyrenaicus, and Ommatoiulus moreletti, all from South Wales and a woodlouse, Philoscia affinis, from Sussex.

A commented list of 42 centipede species from order Geophilomorpha present in Romania, is given. This comes to complete the annotated catalogue compiled by Negrea (2006) for the other orders of the class Chilopoda: Scutigeromorpha, Lithobiomorpha and Scolopendromorpha. Since 1972, when Matic published the first monograph on epimorphic centipeds from Romania in the series “Fauna României” as the results of his collaboration with his student Cornelia Dărăbanţu, the taxonomical status of many species has been debated and sometimes clarified. Some of the accepted modifications were included by Ilie (2007) in a checklist of centipedes, lacking comments on synonymies. The main goal of this work is, therefore, to update the list of known geophilomorph species from taxonomic and systematic point of view, and to include also records of new species. INTRODUCTION Among centipedes, the Geophilomorpha order is the richest in species number, with 40% of all known species, distributed all over the world (with some exceptions, Antartica and Artic regions) (Bonato et al., 2011a). From the approx. 1250 geophilomorph species, a number of 179 valid species in 37 genera were recently acknowledged to be present in Europe, following a much needed critical review of taxonomic literature (Bonato & Minelli, 2014).

ABSTRACT This paper deals with the conceptions, knowledge and attitudes of the inhabitants of the county of Pedra Branca, Bahia State, on the arthropods of the class Diplopoda. Data were collected from February to June 2005 by means of open-ended interviews carried out with 28 individuals, which ages ranged from 13 to 86 years old. It was recorded some traditional knowledge regarding the following items: taxonomy, biology, habitat, ecology, seasonality, and behavior. Results show that the diplopods are classified as “insects”. The characteristic of coiling the body was the most com- mented, as well as the fact that these animals are considered as “poisonous”. In gen- eral, the traditional zoological knowledge of Pedra Branca’s inhabitants concerning the diplopods is coherent with the academic knowledge. Troglomyces dioicus sp. nov. is the fi rst dioecious species described in the genus Troglomyces. Keys for all hitherto known species of Diplopodomyces and Troglomyces are presented, as is a discussion of the status of both genera.
