Frequently Asked Questions: Students

How do I sign up? Student signup takes place online. Please click the link. We require a 2 hour minimum to volunteer.

Where will I work? Students support us mostly in our Thrift Shop, but we allow seasonal opportunities for student in the Food Pantry. Please check the calendar.

Where do I enter? Weekdays, Enter the door by the “Office” sign on the left side of our building and ask for Sharla at the lobby Intake desk. Weekends (Saturday/ Sunday), enter through the front Thrift Store doors and let the Security Guard know that you are on the student volunteer list.

What do I bring?

a. Signed Volunteer Waiver (if you are under 18)

b. Your cell phone

c. Volunteer Form (if you need service hours)

We do not have space for devices, backpacks, or other electronics, please keep these items securely locked in your car. Our office is not responsible for items that are lost or stolen.

What do I wear?

a. Modest comfortable clothing

b. Closed toe shoes

c. No flip flops or sandals

Can I bring a friend? Yes! Just be sure they sign up and bring their signed waiver too.

Are their snacks? Yes! We have free snacks and drinks in our breakroom and we have a soda machine.

What if I need a form signed? If you have the form on hand, any onsite manager may sign.

If you need to request a letter, please email Sharla Calloway. What if I need hours for a traffic ticket or court-related reason?

Student Rules for Volunteering:

 Waivers are required.

 No one under the age of 13 may volunteer with us

 Students 13-15 may volunteer with a parent present at all times and waiver

 Teens 16 and older may volunteer alone-with a parent signature and waiver

 Please arrive on time and we require a minimum of 2 hours of work support

 Please stay in your area except to go to bathroom or our breakroom

 Never give any client or volunteer a ride unless you know them personally or address questions

 Don’t give anyone, except staff, personal information (phone, address, etc.)

 You may shop for Thrift Shop items, but do so AFTER your shift
