First “Saturday” Fellowship Today, immediately following service, please join us in the lobby for a few minutes to celebrate our May birthdays and spend time getting to know our guests and family members. Refreshments will be served.

CHURCH-WIDE Foundations Class The Loving God Series begins May 4th! We encourage everyone to participate in a class. Our desire is for our church to detox, each one emptying themselves and laying aside all encumbrances and then to be refilled with the things of God. Please sign up for a class. Books are available for $8.

Small group for the young men (5th to 12th grade) will be 1st Friday at 8pm in the Triplex AND 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sunday at 1:30pm at the Lewis residence (7317 Finance Street, 15208). This group is facilitated Tony Igwe and Walter Lewis. Food and transportation is provided for the Youth Group (5th-12th grade).

Oasis Foods Development Team Meeting: Today, immediately following service, WARM Center. There will be a brief meeting after service to give updates and share action items with the team.

Marathon Outreach – Sunday, May 3rd Join us from 8am -11:30am, 7426 Frankstown Ave (Clauser Residence). Represent Bible Center and support the marathon runners running through Homewood. BC will also be doing outreach during this time to residents in Homewood, inviting them to church. Bring a lawn chair, a snack to share, and wear your Bible Center t-shirt. Parking is available on Frankstown between Braddock Ave and Brushton Ave. To check for race routes, closures, etc. please check out this link http://www.pittsburghmarathon.com/.

After church today we will be making signs to encourage the runners, and also doing a mini training on ways to effectively do community outreach during the event. If you have questions, please contact Kerri Clauser, [email protected].

Redeeming Work Conference Thursday, May 7th, from 9am – 4pm, PNC Park’s Stadium Clubhouse (115 Federal St, 15212). Our very own Pastor John and Sis Stephanie Boddie will be speaking at the conference. Registration is $99. The student and seminary rate is $30.

Shepherding the Next Generation Celebration of Teachers: Sunday, May 17th. We encourage you to invite future, current and retired teachers to attend Bible Center on Sunday, May 17th. We will thank these individuals for ministering to children, pray for their work, and give them a small gift of appreciation. Invitations are available on the table in the cafe. Please take some to give to teachers who have made a difference in your life or the life of your children.

Bible Center Social Worker Response Team Meeting: Sunday, May 17th, immediately following service in the WARM Center. Open to all social workers and individuals with experience in mental health. We will be meeting to discuss plans on how to address and approach mental health topics to help improve our interaction within and outside our church community. Word War Movement Friday, May 22nd, 7pm-9pm, St. James Episcopal Church (11524 Frankstown Avenue). Ministers of verbal and vocal talent will unite in using the power of words/Bible-based truths to launch attacks against the works of the enemy. Refreshments served.

Women’s Ministry Cook-off and Conversation: Saturday, May 30th, 5pm, 11 Carmel Court. Ladies, we are asking you to submit your favorite Mac and Cheese recipe for the cook-off competition. Recipes can be submitted to Arielle Donelan, Dana Gowder or Debralyn Woodberry-Shaw. All recipes should be submitted no later than May 24th. Oasis Transportation Company – Open for Summer Scheduling Summer is nearly upon us. Oasis Transportation is available for providing your transportation needs this summer. We are ready to serve family reunions, summer field trips and company trips around Pennsylvania. Campus Liaisons We are looking for Campus Liaisons for next academic year (2015-16) on Pitt and CMU’s campus. Campus Liaisons serve as a bridge between campus, church and community connecting students to Christ. Campus Liaisons help facilitate weekly Bible studies on campus and help plan campus ministry and BCYA events. If interested, please contact Kerri Clauser (412-242-4920) or [email protected]. Marcus Igwe will be graduating from Duquesne University! Marcus’ graduation is Saturday, May 9th at 9 a.m. in the Duquesne Union Ballroom with a reception to follow. The Igwe family invites the Bible Center family to join them for a graduation celebration at their home (106 Golf Ridge, Monroeville, PA) on Sunday, May 10th at 3:30 p.m.

Congratulations to Michael and Abriana Mitchell! They are the proud parents of baby Michael Mitchell. Born, April 30th at 3lbs and 11 oz.

Other Opportunities

Young Adults Explosion – Together in Unity Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th, from 7pm-9pm (doors open at 6:30pm) at Destiny International Ministries (7061 Lemington Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206). Our very own Amos Evans will be ministering Friday evening! Guest speaker is Michael Smith – Pastor of Destiny International Ministries.

Project Prom Primping Tuesday, May 5th, 5pm – 8pm, Human Services Building (One Smithfield Street, lower level). Project Prom Primping is a free event featuring a refresher on formal manners from a professional etiquette coach, and a prom and beauty demonstration fair and a catered meal. Skills and knowledge taught at Project Prom Primping go far beyond prom to help our young people excel as they enter adulthood. Will you help us reach the students in your community that could benefit from this program? Don’t miss the chance to help these young people prepare for their big night with grace and style. Homewood Summer Day Camp – Enrichment Fair Saturday, June 6th from 1pm – 3pm at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh in Homewood (7101 Hamilton Avenue). Homewood Health Matters 5K and Healthy Eating Expo June 6, 2014 at 10am--This event is designed to inspire Homewood residents to get active, eat right, and live a healthy lifestyle. We are looking for Runners, Walkers and Volunteers! Runners and walkers will do a 5K through Homewood and afterwards are invited to attend a Healthy Eating Expo. There will be food samples, cooking demonstrations, and nutrition education at the Expo. Registration for the race is just $5. This includes a T-shirt and Finisher's Medal. We are trying to get 100 people to runners and walkers to sign up! Sign up and spread the word. Please register by May 20th to Saturday, May 2, 2015 ANNOUNCEMENTS guarantee your t-shirt size.
