ACCESS TO VITAL & ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION OF COURSEWORK

2013/14 ACCESS TO VITAL

A HOW-TO-GUIDE FOR STUDENTS

1. Go to www.liv.ac.uk which will take you to the University of Liverpool homepage.

2. At the top of page on the right hand side, you will see a tab ‘Students’. Click on this.

3. You will now be redirected to the log in page for the Digital University.

4. Complete the log in process by using your MWS username and password (which you will have created when you activated your computing account during the registration process).

5. Once you have successfully logged in, you will be able to access all the resources provided by the Digital University including the electronic library, Spider and the virtual learning environment (VITAL).

6. Under the drop box ‘Tools’ you will see the hyperlink for VITAL. Click on this.

7. You will now be redirected to the VITAL homepage. From here, you will be able to gain access to those modules for which you are registered.

8. On the right hand side of the page, you will see a drop box entitled ‘My Courses’. To access your chosen module, click on the relevant hyperlink i.e. 201314-Law803 Constitutional and Administrative Law. You will then be redirected to the module resources for Constitutional and Administrative law.

9. Any announcements relating to this module will be under the hyperlink ‘What’s New’.

10. All session materials i.e. handouts and tutorial materials will be found under the hyperlink ‘Learning Resources’.

11. The coursework title (if applicable) for the module will be contained under the hyperlink ‘Assessment’.

It is essential that you check VITAL daily. This is where you will find all announcements relating to your studies and all other relevant information. Make sure that you personalize your VITAL homepage to ensure that it is user friendly i.e. enabling the announcements to be sent to you directly by email. This will help you make the most of the virtual learning environment.

A HOW-TO-GUIDE

1. Access VITAL using the drop box available on the www.liv.ac.uk homepage. 2. On the right hand side of the page under the drop box ‘My Modules’ select the relevant hyperlink i.e. 2013-14 Law803 Constitutional and Administrative Law. Click on this. 3. You will now be redirected to the module homepage. On the left hand side of the page you will find the hyperlink ‘Assessment’. Click on this. 4. You will now be redirected to the assessment homepage. It is essential that you thoroughly read all of the information relating to submission, including the pre- submission checklist. 5. Scroll further down the page and you will find three hyperlink drop boxes entitled:  Coursework Submission  Coursework Submission LATE BOX  Coursework Submission EXTENSIONS ONLY 6. Provided you are submitting before 11.59pm on the submission, day select the first hyperlink Coursework Submission. 7. If you are submitting after this time, select the second hyperlink Coursework Submission LATE BOX. 8. If you have been granted an extention (for more information, please contact Mr. Davies), select the third hyperlink Coursework Submission EXTENSIONS ONLY. 9. You will now be redirected to a new page entitled ‘Submit Paper: By File Upload (Step 1 of 3)’. 10. Complete the upload process as follows:  Select ‘Single File Upload’.  Enter your first and last Name.  Enter the title of the paper.  Upload your document. You must ensure that this is in the correct format i.e. MSWord and has the Coursework Front Sheet attached.  Click ‘Upload File’. 11. You will now be redirected to a new page entitled ‘Submit Paper: Step 2 of 3’. 12. This page enables you to review the document that you have uploaded. If this is the correct document, scroll to the bottom of the page and click ‘Submit’. Essential! Failure to do this will result in non-submission of your coursework. Please also note that once you have submitted your document, you will not be able to submit any other materials. If you have uploaded a document in error, contact the relevant module leader immediately. 13. You will now be redirected to a screen that should say ‘Paper Submitted’ with a green tick. An electronic receipt will now be sent to your @student.liverpool.ac.uk address.
