Q And A For DOT Compliant Employment Verification

Q and A for DOT Compliant Employment Verification

What does this product do? We perform full DOT compliant employment verifications so that you can save time and money. You need to verify the last 3 years of history on a driver it used to be 2.

What all do you verify? Please refer to the employment inquiry sheet. But it covers type of freight hauled, drug/alcohol history, accident history etc... It covers all questions that need to be asked in regards to DOT regulations

We already get that information from DAC? DAC provides you with a database of companies that have reported employment information. It can be very incomplete and inaccurate at times. It could end up costing you more because how often do you have to re-verify the information that DAC provides.

How does this work? You will order the verification through our interactive website and sent the applicant’s consent form after you submit your order. We will then do the verification and submit your request back to you via the website.

How much does this cost? $10 per employer

What if there are services like O.E.V.S that require you to pay for the check? That charge will be passed on to the client.

So if I have 10 employers that need to be checked I have to pay $100? Yes, but if you have that many in 3 years of time you probably don’t want to consider them as a hire anyways. Also how many times do you actually see this, and isn’t this a very rare situation?

We’re not going to spend the money to outsource this because we can handle the number of drivers we process each month. How many people work on your verifications? 2 How much do you pay them? $30,000/year. With all employee costs that usually equates to about 50% more than the salary, correct? Yes. Take $45,000 x 2=$90,000. How much of their day is spent chasing down verifications? 50%. So $90,000 divides by 50% is $45,000. That is how much it is costing you? With outsourcing it to us it only costs X.

If they fail a drug test or accept another job offer do you charge for this? Yes, we have to since we have already put forth the effort. What is the average turn around time? On average we estimate 3-5 days, but please be aware that this is dependent on the employer to provide us the information. We will make 3 attempts per day, per employer for up to 35 days.

What happens if 30 days passes and a former employer does not reply? We will document a good faith attempt required by the DOT and close out the file after 35 days.

What if I need a rush on an applicant? Please tell and us and we will prioritize the file accordingly.

What is the new law? Must check 3 years drug and alcohol info, accidents, and employment info. 2 new questions regarding FMSRs and Safety sensitive functions on part B. See consent form for exact wording.

Who verifies if the consent form is correct? What credentials do they have? Our customer support team verifies this. They have direct contact with the DOT and have been working with them for several months to ensure compliance.

What does our consent form need to say? See copy of Form for that answer. Has exact wording. Must have 2 new questions on part b, as well as our info for the return info if not using ours.

We would want to use our own consent form. You can do that. We will as a convenience to you verify that it has the entire correct wording so that you are protected.

We only take applications over the phone? They still need to sign a consent form before anyone pulls any kind of report on them.

Can I try this first? Yes, you may. We are offering free trial set-ups to any client who is interested in the service.

What all needs to be complete to get set up? Need to be set up on the system as a normal customer. Addendum must be signed. Consent form must be set up or approved.

How do we check the status? View the log that is available to the customer by clicking on the report button

This should provide answers to most of your questions. Please let me know if you have others.
