Main Purpose of the Post

To assist the Café Bar Manager, being responsible for the Café Bar and Restaurant areas. To manage the Café Bar team on a day to day basis, with the aim of providing an efficient and high quality service for customers.

Main Duties of the Post

1. To manage the Café Bar and Restaurant areas by  locking and unlocking all secure areas in the Café Bar  checking and receiving deliveries  checking and issuing cash float for each of the tills  cashing up at the end of the shift and recording all monies as required  being responsible for health and safety in the Café Bar and other areas of the building as required when on shift  assisting with induction training of new staff and ongoing training for Café Bar team  directing staff and taking part in the following duties

2. To set-up the Cafe Bar and Restaurant areas by  preparing Café Bar ready for serving customers by filling fridges, stocking shelves etc  arranging tables and chairs as required  updating chalkboards and displays with information and promotional material

To serve customers by  acknowledging and serving all customers promptly and politely  serving customers and ensuring all drinks served comply with the Weights & Measures Act  having product knowledge of regular menu, daily specials and cocktail list  taking food orders at the bar for bar snacks  preparing and serving customers bar snacks  taking orders and serving customers food direct from the kitchen  recording any staff drinks/food, spillages, broken bottles, returned drinks etc  complying with all food hygiene regulations

3. To clear and clean the Restaurant and Café Bar area throughout and at the end of each shift by  regularly removing all empty glasses, bottles, crockery and cutlery from the bar counter, tables, and floor areas  clearing up spillages and any refuse from behind the bar and in the customer areas as necessary  cleaning glasses, crockery and other utensils in preparation for the following shift  re-arranging furniture as required in preparation for the following shift  removing refuse to designated area of Midland Lane at the appropriate times

4. To make an active contribution to the day-to-day operation of the Arches by  attending and making an active contribution to regular Arches team meetings;  attending training courses as required, in consultation with the Bar & Catering Manager.  any other reasonable duties as requested by a manager or supervisor updated April 2007 1 the arches

Hours Worked Hours will be based on an a weekly average of 40 per week and will be organised on a rota basis. Due to the nature of this post, shifts will include a significant amount of evening and weekend working (including bank holidays).

Staff Directly Supervised A team of Café Bar Persons and Waiting Persons whilst on duty.

Position in the Organisation This post will report to the Café Bar Manager.

Pay Payment will be £6.50 per hour.

Experience

1 Experience of serving customers in a similar capacity

2 Experience of handling cash

3 Experience of managing staff (not essential)

Knowledge
