AGREEMENTS

Agreement No. 1. Approve the Summary Minutes of the Second Regular Session of the Executive Committee, contained in document CIM/CD/doc.18/07.

Agreement No. 2. Request the Executive Secretariat to prepare a matrix to identify issues and possible links in order to boost synergies by tapping into the action platforms and agreements of the various international and inter-American forums, as well as regional intergovernmental mechanisms in the Hemisphere.

Agreement No. 3. Request the Executive Secretariat that, in its follow up to previous agreements of the Executive Committee, it insist with the Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Affairs (CAAP) on the need to assign OAS Regular Fund resources to the Mechanism to Follow Up on Implementation of the Inter-American Convention on the Prevention, Punishment, and Eradication of Violence against Women, “Convention of Belém do Pará” (MESECVI), in the same way that funds are assigned to other international convention follow-up mechanisms in the Organization.

Agreement No. 4. Request the Executive Secretariat to include in the draft Biennial Work Plan of the CIM to be submitted to the XXXIV Assembly of Delegates of the CIM, as one of the priorities, the compilation of best practices for incorporating a gender perspective in national and/or municipal budgets, to enable such practices to be shared among the Delegates.

Agreement No. 5. Urge the President of the CIM, as part of the preparations for the next conference of states parties to MESECVI, to request the OAS Secretary General to let governments know, in the convocation to the Conference, that it would be advisable to include the Competent National Authorities (CNAs) in the delegation they send to the Conference. - 4 -

Agreement No. 6. Ask the President to send a note to the “Global Consortium”, wishing it every success at its upcoming meeting and letting it know of the CIM’s interest in joining in its fight against cervical cancer, in order to strengthen the work being done in Latin America and the Caribbean to make medicines available at lower cost.

Agreement No. 7. Request the President to send a note to the General Secretariat, requesting that the Permanent Council convene the first meeting of the working group on the Women of the Americas Day, in order to elect the group’s officers, distribute the document on proposed topics and activities, and begin work on that project.

Agreement No. 8. Request the Executive Secretariat of the CIM to set up a virtual forum to facilitate the participation of Delegates in the preparations for the Women of the Americas Day.

Agreement No. 9. Approve November 10, 11 and 12, 2008 as the dates of the XXXIV Assembly of Delegates of the CIM, to be held in Santiago, Chile.

Agreement No. 10. Approve the provisional agenda of the XXXIV Assembly of Delegates of the CIM contained in document CIM/CD. doc.16 rev.1, including, in the topic for the Dialogue of Heads of Delegation, the following subjects: Gender-based violence; HIV and trafficking in persons; Gender and Justice; Climate Change and Natural Disasters, and ask the Chair

Agreement No. 11. To accept with gratitude the offer of the Government of Chile to submit a proposed Declaration of the XXXIV Assembly of Delegates of the CIM, which will be circulated among the Principal Delegates so that they can comment on it prior to the Assembly.

Agreement No. 12. Hold the Third Meeting of Ministers or Highest-Ranking Authorities Responsible for the Advancement of Women in the Member States (REMIM III) on November 13, 2008, in Santiago, Chile, the day after the XXXIV Assembly of Delegates of the CIM in order to address the issue of mainstreaming a gender perspective in the follow-up process to the Summits of the Americas.

Agreement No. 13. Approve budgetary execution at October 31, 2008, contained in document CIM/CD/doc.24/08.
