Brookside Girls Athletic Rules and Regulations

BROOKSIDE GIRLS’ HEALTH/FITNESS RULES

1. DRESS CODE: A. You will be required to wear a Brookside H/F uniform every class period. Cost for the top is $10. and the short is $10. The total uniform is $20. We accept cash or check. The check should be made out to Brookside Intermediate with your phone number on it. Arrangements can be made if cost is a problem. B. Your hair is required to be “out-of the way” or pulled back/up at all times. C. If you don’t have your uniform for the class period; you will need to borrow clothes from us and it will affect your daily dress out grade and result in a conditioning consequence for each time the offense occurs / 9 weeks. If you lose your “borrowed clothes” or damage them; you will be responsible in replacing them. The shirt is $8. and the short is $8. D. You may not borrow another student’s uniform. E. You must wear proper tennis shoes. Shoes must enclose the entire foot and have laces. The laces must be tied properly. F. Jewelry is a hazard to all students; therefore, it may NOT be worn during your class.

2. LOCKER AND LOCKER ROOM: A. You will have your own locker and be given a lock to use for the year. If you lose or destroy anything, you will be held responsible. Locks are $8. to replace. LOCK UP your valuables. We are not responsible for anything left out or unlocked. B. Do not share lockers. C. Keep your locker and locker area clean, bug free and clean smelling. D. Absolutely NO eating in the locker area. E. No Cell Phones and/or Electronic Devices are allowed to be ON in the locker areas and restroom. Devices will be taken up and you will be responsible to retrieve it from the Student Center.

3. PARTICIPATION: A. Students are expected to participate every day. Please be sure to send a note if your daughter is ill or has been injured and will need to sit out for the day. She will then be required to do some written work on a Health article. B. A doctor’s note will be required specifying ailment and length of time student may be excuse from H/F and if non-participation goes beyond 3 days. Students with doctor’s excuses do not dress out and are given written assignments on Health articles. C. Throughout the year, students do participate in special events such as “Walk for Diabetes” (American Diabetes), “Hoops for Heart” (American Heart Association), Skate 101 (Roller Skating), C-Motion (Dance Activity with music), and our H/F Fund-Raiser (selling cups this year). We ask for your support so your daughter can enjoy participating. D. We support STAAR so we will be doing activities that relate to these subjects. E. The state of Texas is requiring all students to be tested using the Fitness Gram. This program gauges students’ physical health by testing through 5 events: Curl-Ups, Sit and Reach, Push Ups, Trunk Lift and Mile Walk/Run.

4. GRADING PROCEDURES: A. Grades will be based on a possible 100 points during 9 week grading period. 45% Dressing (100 points possible/week for dressing out. Each day is worth 20 points. Failure to dress out in complete uniform will result in loss of points). 50% Participation (Daily Conditioning). 5% Test and Reading Assessment. 5. DISCIPLINE: A. Follow all classroom rules posted in gymnasium. B. No Gum or Candy. C. Be on time to class and all activities. D. All infractions will be handled as stated in the student handbook. E. Severe violations will be handled at the teacher’s discretion (parent contact, office referral, etc..)
