1 [4376] 1 1 Whereas, she and her sister, Mrs. Susan Anderson, are responsible 2 for sending a number of the younger descendants to college when 3 it was not popular for blacks to go to college; and many of those 4 descendants and their children went on to become bankers, 5 teachers, lawyers, firemen, policemen, newscasters, and nurses; 6 and 7 8 Whereas, though a number of descendants still reside in Columbia, 9 the Reese, Reeves, Rose family lives all over the United States 10 now, but will always call Columbia, South Carolina “home”: the 11 place that made them who they are today. Now, therefore, 12 13 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 14 15 That members of the House of Representatives hereby recognize 16 the biennial reunion of the “Reese, Reeves, Rose” family in 17 Columbia, in celebration and honor of their roots established in the 18 Arthurtown and Little Camden areas two hundred years ago. 19 20 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 21 the Reese, Reeves, Rose family. 22 ----XX---- 23
