HAOPF Minutes 25/05/2016 – Version 2 2 4 HAOPF – the Future of

With few attendees item 3 was discussed and the options set out below:

Option 1 – March on

Up the membership level by sending letters to CVS’s? - Hold local network events - Encourage the formation of loose forums in different areas and from this the nominal head will be invited to HAOPF

Option 2 – March on and Meander On

Compile a list of what HAOPF have already achieved, to show how HAOPF can be useful to the area. Action – KJ to supply group with previous minutes of HAOPF meetings. KJ

Option 3 – Melt away

Establish what it says in the HAOPF constitution and look into what HCC wants in terms of funding. This depends on the HAOPF constitution and what was originally agreed.

Action – Graham to find out what happens in the constitution in regarding to GF funding.

Option 4 – Marching on.

Remove the barrier of the meetings being held at Winchester if this is not suitable for most members. Look into other geographical areas to hold the HAOPF meetings. Possibly move around meeting to different areas.

Option 5 – Marching on

Refresh the HAOPF brand.

Comments from Mollie Antrobus

This has gone to 3 members of our Forum but all of us at the moment are not too well and cannot commit to attending meetings at Winchester. However, I personally do feel that the networking and information sharing function of the HAOPF is very valuable and the presence of a Hampshire wide association important in representing the interests of older people to HCC and other county wide statutory and voluntary organisations. We need to ensure that older people are included in discussions and consultations on issues which affect them.

Comments from Graham

Suzanne and I spoke about the future of HAOPF last week and I agreed with her ideas about involving other parties. I would add that we should be more active in acting as a coordinated body in representing older people eg the recent pension item (not on the Agenda!) and the changes in respect of allowances. I have written to two of our MPs about these topics and received replies but I feel HAOPF would carry more weight in view of possible numbers.

5 AOB

Update from Mollie Antrobus: Feedback from Andover : Thursday 29th September we have a Health and Independence Roadshow at the Wellington Centre in Andover to celebrate the International Day for Older People under the Full of Life banner. Not only will we have 15 organisations providing helpful information stands but also a keynote speaker on Osteoporosis - Fiona Rochford, National Development Manager from the National Osteoporosis Society. Added to this, the West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group will be launching their 'Get Hampshire Walking' campaign in our area.

HAOPF balance statement from Graham:

The balance as at 26th Sept was £9,826.61.

SEEFA

New narrative on aging leaflet – lots of work is shown to have gone into it. HAOPF Minutes 25/05/2016 – Version 2 4 There will be a presentation by SEEFA once the organisation and the new narrative is settled. This needs to be presented to Hampshire to show who SEEFA is linked to in central government. Action – group to invite Camilla Gibson and Samantha Hudson to the ALL presentation once dates are confirmed.

Age Action Alliance – Digital Inclusion

Not much more has been heard regarding this. Action: Richard to chase an update. Ed Walton is sending Richard information about the Community Support survey and digital inclusion information.

Community Kick Start Fund

Breeze radio administration has been asking groups to promote the community kick start fund.

This is to encourage social action to support resilient and resourceful places. Possible projects for 50+. The aim is to create a resource of volunteers that can respond to communities in crisis and provide general community support.
