2008 Schedule of Events (So Far)

There are only Two *Mandatory Participation* events, the rest are optional, depending on your availability, the current “GAS prices”, and level of Polish Pride. Just when we cut down to about 3 large events, we’ve added a few more!!! So, Please confirm attendance to as many as possible. Remember, there’s strength in numbers and if you’re a member, (or not), we’d like to see you there! Come out, have fun, and “PLAY” with us! (Apologies for the updating as necessary stay tuned)…

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008 “ANNUAL TOY SOLDIER CONVENTION” 9am-3pm Contact: Craig McClain [email protected], Website: http://www.thewestcoaster.com Location: Irvine Marriot Hotel, 18000 Von Karman Ave, Irvine, CA, 92612, Hotel Info: (949)-553- 0100. Yahoo maps or Mapquest for directions. We must arrive by 7:30 am for set-up and in costume for Opening Ceremonies parade. We got invited to participate due to the success of our appearance at THE WEST COAST HISTORICAL MILITARIA COLLECTORS SHOW. Everyone was totally floored at seeing a Polish winged hussar and display up close and personal, so they asked if we’d please come and do this show as well. Good recruitment opportunity-Should be interesting if we can pick up any new members from this one, and they’re giving us a FREE Table to set up our indoor display! We’ll no doubt see some of our friends from the military timeline events here. Theme: 17th Century French Court/Three Musketeers / Cavalier Period. Very Polish-Friendly, and welcomed with open arms...It’s the Siege of the Cossack Rebellion” that weekend. A new chapter in period Polish Period re-enactment!!! “At the orders of our Hetman, All U.S. Polish period re-enactors are urged to participate in this event”! (From L.A.-Depart Burbank Airport Thursday, arrive Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport, rent vehicle, 2-Hr. drive Southeast to Tyler, and arrive at pre-rented hotel, follow directions above to event site for Sat./Sun. Fri., May 2nd-Sat. May 3rd, 2008 “THE WEST COAST HISTORICAL MILITARIA COLLECTORS SHOW” “Largest ALL MILITARIA show, west of the Mississippi!”, (No Sunday open). Location: Bldg. # 9, Fairplex in Pomona, CA. http://www.militariashow.com. Admission: $7.00 and parking: $7.00.Vintage Productions brings back their huge assortment of superior historical militaria antiques & collectibles from all time periods & all around the world. Saturday includes a historical costume contest with trophy/awards given out. Visit fantastic outdoor historical encampments and displays while you appreciate quality living history re-enactors. Saturday, May 31st, 2008 “POLAND FOREVER BALL/Dinner Dance” So. Cal Polish American Congress welcomes everyone to the 217th Anniversary of the Polish May 3rd Constitution of 1791. Location: Pasadena Elks Lodge, 400 W. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA. Saturday, April 28th, 2007, 6:30 pm. July 12th-13th, 2008 “ OLD FORT Mac ARTHUR DAYS ” *Mandatory Participation* LARGE EVENT! Military Timeline Event. Location: 3601 Gaffey Street, San Pedro, CA. http://www.geocities.com/fortmacarthur , for more details, directions, and info. L.A.’s biggest re-enactor show and Living History Event! See many phases of military presentations, from ancient Rome to the Persian Gulf War, and everything in between. Once again Renaissance/Baroque- era, Polonia military is portrayed, representing King Jan III Sobieski's Winged Husaria at the Battle of Vienna. We’ve been repeatedly informed that our presentation is one of THE BEST at this event, and we’re asked for by name! A great show for the whole family! Historical Battle re-enactments, Cannon-fire, Horses, Living History. August, 2008 HUSARIA TOUR of POLAND…? An opportunity to visit Poland and tour various Husaria-related sites. Details-TBD ********************************************************************************

Info/Directions: (714) 996-8161 or, Greg Chilecki (714) 744-2775. SULIGOWSKI'S REGIMENT returns to the Annual Polish Harvest Festival!!! We’re located in the main corner, next to the photo booth, & main stage, where we lend loaner armor to anyone wanting to pose with us to raise funds for the kids’ Polish school. We interact with the families and the kids who want to see replica Polish Hussar armor and weaponry up close. We also help raise funds for the Polish School by dressing up kids in replica armor and take photos with them. Watch, as we escort the Pan and Pani of the Manor in the Harvest Parade and 'stand guard' over them during the ceremony…The kids love us here and the Polish food is great! *********************************************************************************

October TBD 2008 “ THE ANNUAL UNITY FESTIVAL” Location: Verdugo Park, 1621 Canada Blvd., Glendale, CA. 11am-6pm FREE EVENT. Many of L.A.’s ethnicities are gathered together in a multi-ethnic Festival of Unity in the Armenian area of Glendale, which is a City- sponsored event. Everything from traditional Polish & Indian dance to Armenian & Celtic music. We were the hit of the festival in 2006. The Fest attracts between 3-5,000 visitors. Diverse, different ethnic backgrounds coming together and meeting as one in a beautiful park setting. ************************************************************************************

Apparently, we leave such a great and unique impression, that we’re becoming a mainstay by the Marching Thru History Timeline event (Fact: Before Saturday morning opening ceremonies, the encampments are now secretly judged on Friday evening,), > so we need to arrive early on Friday for a complete set-up! < . 2005 saw SULIGOWSKI’S REGIMENT as recipients of the “Claudette Gravell Superior Spirit Award”! We have the largest encampment area we’ve ever asked for, too. This is a great NEW event for us. Free dinner Saturday night and free breakfast on Sunday morning too!!!
