Perak to Continue with Existing Policy on Entrepreneur Development

IPOH: The -led Perak government will continue with the entrepreneur development policy implemented by the previous government, the Perak State Assembly was told today.

State Religious and Islamic Education, Rural and Entrepreneur Development Committee chairman Asmuni Awi (pix) said some improvements would be made through to make the policy better. "Whatever is good, we will continue, and improvements will be made," he said in response to a supplementary question from Salbiah Mohamed (BN-Temengor). Asmuni, who is Manjoi assemblyman, said traders from all over the country were invited to carry out business at the all the venues of the Games (Sukma) 2018, which the state government is hosting, but priority would be given to traders in Perak. "Although Perak is hosting Sukma this year, this does not mean that business opportunity is only given to the people of Perak," he said in reply to another supplementary question from Salbiah on the involvement of local traders at the games. Sukma 2018, to be held from Sept 12 to 22, will involve 29 types of sports with 427 events at 40 venues in 12 districts in the state. On the special assistance for young people in the business sector, Asmuni said 4,422 youths had participated in the Tunas Usahawan Belia Bumiputera programme (TUBE) by SME Corp Malaysia until June. "Of the number, 4,399 participants have registered their businesses with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) and have started operations. To date, the businesses have recorded a cumulative sales of RM82.9 million with 6,544 new jobs created," he added.
