Reports:

Chair - Brandon B.- The last month has been uneventful. I set the next year’s dates for Area meetings with the Church. Sept, Nov, I am moving the mtg a week so attendance will be good. The Church is waiting to hear regarding the vote for $1000.00 for chairs. Doug asked if Area meeting in August could be moved to accommodate the Portland NA Area Convention. Brandon responded saying that he will check dates one week before the Convention, and one week after the Convention with the Church. Next month we can figure it out. Brandon also expresses his concern that he wants everybody at Area to attend the Convention.

Secretary’s Report – Consensus to accept May 2014 minutes. I am trying to update 2 databases (e-mail and separate contact list), so if you received the minutes, you still need to check the contact list that I am sending around. If you did not receive the minutes or are a new GSR or alternate GSR please provide make sure to correct the contact list. Please make this a practice at every PASC. I am sending the Minutes out earlier so that GSR’s can review the month’s activities and remind their groups of events. Please provide a copy of your event’s flyer, with your name on the flyer, to include the event in the Minutes each month. If you have an event that does not require a flyer, please write it down in the provided notebook. Thank you for the opportunity to serve! Marybeth N.

Treasurer’s Reports – Stephanie- see attached report – Area is running on a deficit because donations have dropped. Please make sure to go back to your groups and talk to them about donations!

Vice Chair-Zach- I did not get to any subcommittee meetings, but would really appreciate contact info from the chairs of those meetings.

RCM-Toni B.-see attached report – Please volunteer for Sponsorship Behind the Walls. It is an important service for those who cannot get to meetings and we have a lot of requests for Sponsors. Your info. will be anonymous and no one will know your address or other contact details. I have attached a flyer with more details about Sponsorship Behind the Walls. Please take a look. Also, everyone is welcome to attend Region next month on July 20!!

Alternate RCM—Jacob D.-no report This record has been amended and accepted by the PASC on June 28, 2014

Archivist— Dan G.- Last month I would like to apologize for my disorderly conduct at the last meeting. I felt like I was disorderly and am very sorry. I am doing a bit of work, involving getting copies of Motions, numbering them properly, looking into missing Minutes from the past. I am trying to permanently bring all the records up to date, as it’s messy right now.

Public Relations-Jesse S.-see attached report- Jesse also has an opening with PR for a Flyer Coordinator. The description is for someone to keep up with the flyers around town that have tags on them, keeping track of them and refreshing them. Also this person is in charge of mailing flyers. Phone line details-the shifts are 4-6 hours long. We have 4-5 different shifts each day. You need a cell phone with internet service. It’s an important phone number and a lifeline for many. You get maybe 2-4 calls per shift. We are doing double shifts right now. Service is a great way to stay clean.!

Thanks to PACNA for doing such an incredible job with fundraising!!

Old Business:

Proposals: Proposal # 14-7 Made by: Brandon Proposal: To raise the PASC Area meeting rent to $100 and then prepay it for 10 months.

Intent: to pay for new chairs for the Church

Discussion of proposal: Stephanie (treasurer) – we have reserves, we brought in $800 today, but we are still in the red and have been for a couple of months. Looking at last year, however, donations were comparable at this time period. For the proposal: Marybeth – we pay our own way, we meet in this room we like this meeting place, and it is a wear and tear expense that we should be responsible for. This is a great meeting place that we would like to have in the future and, as addicts, we should remember that finding a great meeting place is not always easy because of the reputation NA has had over the years. We would like to change that reputation.

Against the proposal: This record has been amended and accepted by the PASC on June 28, 2014

Stephen- we feel that calling it prepaid rent is misleading. We are concerned about unity for our primary purpose. Objections by Tradition (1,4,6,10 ) are noted and explained, citing problems with points in each of those Traditions. Passed by consensus: N

Proposal #14-8 Made by: H&I Proposal: to receive $1000 from Area for fundraising, which will be paid back to Area in the future.

Intent: to buy T-shirts and mugs to sell at a profit.

Discussion of proposal:

Brandon starts by calling on people with red cards up during the vote. Ray notes that we are operating in the red. Jesse mentions that his group previously asked for money to keep the meeting going and was denied. Jaci- Area is operating in the red and, as a result, her group cannot support this proposal. Angela- had been asked to report more details for the financial part of this proposal at the last Area. She explains all of the prices and that they accepted an offer that came with free stuff, such as banners and free art. The profit should be $1 less than $1000. The people involved in the handling of money are well-known people, such as Lyle, Maurice, Bryan, and Naomi. Thanks Angela!!

Passed by consensus: Y

After vote discussion- the proposal has passed, but Brandon lets a discussion take place. A POI question by Ron C. is “What do the by-laws say about maintaining the prudent reserve?? Brandon points out that Ron C. should bring the exact by-law to the next meeting. Ron C. then reads the by-law, but Brandon does not agree with the by- law. New Business- no new business

Open Forum: There is a reminder to ask groups to throw in an extra $5 or $10 for donations, as that would help the deficit. Brandon answers a question about how the dates for upcoming meetings are set with the Church in advance. Dates are check-listed and then sent to PR. There is some more discussion about moving the date of Area for the Portland Convention. Ray asks if we accepted the new by-laws? The answer is yes. David-where are the new by-laws? Michael (not present-chair of by-law committee) reported to Brandon that the translation of the by-laws to make sense has been time-consuming, as the wording must be applicable to CBDM, i.e. –majority as 2/3 of the vote does not apply anymore. Brandon will bring this up at the next BOD, which is next month. Brandon is explaining some details about CBDM and the use of each card in voting. He mentions that the Learning Day presentation is online for CBD if you missed it. His summary is informative. Anthony asks who has voting rights. Brandon explains that he has reviewed voting rights for this meeting, but if a meeting misses two Areas in a row, their voting rights are suspended.
