POSITION: BARTENDER
TERM: Aug 30th 2017 - April 30 2018 (Occasional summer work available)
RATE OF PAY: $10.90 per hour plus Vacation Pay
DUTIES: Mixing and serving drinks and food; opening and closing the Axe Lounge or the bar for Students’ Centre events; responsible for stock, cash, and cleaning of the bar; be able to ID patrons with accuracy; and knowledge of the Nova Scotia Liquor Control Act.
TRAINING: Consists of a mandatory training session before the start of the academic year plus periodic training seminars throughout the year.
PREREQUISITES: Previous bartending experience would be an asset. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Must comply with the ASU’s Academic Standards Policy. Responsible Serve or Serve Right certification is required before commencing the position.
HOURS: Must be available to work days between 10:30 and 3:00pm, with chance of some evenings and weekends, Shifts are scheduled depending on school and workload. Expect to work a minimum of two shifts per week.

THIS IS AN ACADIA STUDENTS' UNION EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY BARTENDERS
1. General Responsibilities
While on duty, the position of Bartender works to ensure the competent and friendly service of drinks to the patrons of the Axe Lounge and Students’ Centre bar events. Bartenders report to the Manager.
2. Specific Duties
(a) to open and/or close the bar following established guidelines; (b) to maintain the float and complete nightly deposits with the Building Manager; (c) to ensure all equipment is working; (d) to maintain proper inventory counts; (e) to ID and eject over intoxicated patrons in the absence of Door Staff; (f) to identify over intoxicated patrons, cut them off, and bring it to the attention of a door staff or manager for ejection from the premises. (g) to ensure cleaning lists for the bar and bar areas are completed daily; (h) to promote specials and promotions; (i) to clean bar area at the end of night; (j) to complete nightly reports for the Manager in the absence of an Assistant Manager; (k) to report any problems to the Manager or designate
3. Miscellaneous
(a) to be familiar with ASU and Nova Scotia Liquor Regulations; (b) to help promote the Axe Lounge; (c) to be familiar with ASU personnel and procedures; (d) the Bartender may, from time to time, be assigned duties other than those listed above.
