 Participants are able to achieve their effective heart rate zones with ease because of the fun factor.  You can burn more calories than singles or doubles tennis and many other fitness options.  You get short cycles of high intensity workout and periods of rest, similar to interval training.  It is a fun, group activity where players of all abilities enjoy tennis together.  While you are playing tennis, the primary focus is getting a great workout.  There’s no better way to train for tennis than by using the vehicle of tennis.  The American College of Sports Medicine recommends a minimum of 2 hours of exercise per week at moderate intensity or 1 hour per week at high intensity. Cardio Tennis twice per week would amply fulfill this recommendation.

 It is a safe and healthy workout o It includes a warm-up, cardio, and cool down segments o The use of Heart rate monitors increases the safety factor  It is another option for those people who might not want to go to the gym.  It is a great way for new players to get into the game; it is less intimidating because the emphasis is not on technique or competition  Our sport, and many traditional sports, has lost out to many fitness activities in the past 10 years.  With an increasingly sedentary and obese society, Americans are going to look for new, fun ways to get in shape.  Our sport has a very traditional image, Cardio Tennis with the use of heart rate monitors and music can help tennis become more appealing to the consumer.  Cardio Tennis is “3rd way to play tennis”
