Student answers to “When Did New France Fall?”

Lisa: I believe that there’s two different dates for the end of New France (because) one side ... added an extra parts of the story for his or her benefit, since the war is between two sides... How could we find out? ... we or I need to look at the facts and do a little research based on other reasons than just this story....

Binti: I guess that one of the story was wrong and had given the wrong date. My reasons are cause one even can’t have different ending time.

Adam: I think it is a matter of opinion when New France ended. Perhaps the difference between the loss of one battle, or another may make different people believe that the war was lost. One may account for the loss of Montreal, and Quebec the other may account for when the British received full rule. The 1760 date was when all battles were won. The 1763 date was when a Peace treaty was signed (both are possible ends to the war).

Alice: I think it is a matter of opinion because the people probably didn’t find an exact date on when it ended so the dates on these two sheets so then the people just say the date that was pretty close to when it ended. How could we find out? ... I think they should put it like in the middle of these two dates.

Cary: I believe that it is a matter of opinion because these people may just be saying things that are fictional or maybe they got the facts from an unreliable source.

Albert: I think that no body knows when New France ended because everything may be destroyed in the fires. How could we find out? Books. Internet.

Katy: Because maybe they didn’t know so they just said it anyways. How could we find out? You can look it up in history books or information books, internet

Paul: I think that there are two dates of the end of New France because the first date was the date that started the end of New France and the second date was the date that New France was completely gone or dimolished.
