ASSISTANT TO EXECUTIVE PASTOR

Position: Full-time Reports to: Executive Pastor

Department: Administration

The major purpose and responsibility of the Assistant to the Executive Pastor is to serve as primary administrative support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

GENERAL . Pray for Senior Pastor, ministerial and administrative staff and Church family. . Support the financial obligations of the church through tithe and offerings. . Must establish and foster exemplary relationships with Staff/non-staff workers, church membership, business partners, community-at-large and family. . Attend meetings when advised . Perform other duties as assigned.

ADMINISTRATING EXECUTIVE PASTOR . Relieves Executive Pastor of administrative functions in order to increase the time they have available for executive level responsibilities. . Responsible for confidential and time sensitive material. . Responsible for typing, proofreading, and editing materials and data for completeness, accuracy and adherence to church standards for the ministries. . Responsible for serving as a research assistant to assist Executive Pastor in preparing for sermons, teachings, and manuscript development. . Prepares routine and advanced correspondence including letters, memoranda, manuscripts, proposals, reports and press releases. . Maintains weekly calendar of appointments for Executive Pastor. . Serve as project manager for special projects upon request . Serve as administrative coordinator for The Luke Academy & The Luke Cares systems.

. In support of the Executive Pastor, administrates the hiring process, ensures evaluations take place annually, and maintain church records on church personnel, and maintains employee leave balances. . Facilitate efficient and proficient office, forms, transportation and facility management . In conjunction with facility staff, ensure proper scheduling and setup of facilities for meetings, events, worship, weddings, etc. . Serve as coordinator for member events such as weddings, funerals, baptisms, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION . Requires a bachelors degree or its equivalent with at least 3 years of experience in the field or in a related area. . Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. . A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. . Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills at all times . Must possess the following skills: strategic planning, verbal and written communication, customer service, multitasking, and project management. . Must demonstrate the ability to receive instruction, interpret it, develop a plan of action, and communicate to necessary parties. . Must be a self-motivated person who is able to be effective when working independently without supervision and produce results.  Mastery of Windows 2000, Microsoft Office 2000 (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, QuickBooks PageMaker, Outlook), and a willingness to learn new technology and knowledge of database (Power Church);  A Christian in full agreement with St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church’s statement of faith; willingness and ability to serve Christ and His church; spiritually mature.
