Materials needed: none

Procedure: Anticipatory Set Instructional Input Modeling Check for Understanding Practice Closure

1. (AS) “Hey everyone, I have a special song to sing for you today and I want you to listen so that you’ll be able to tell me who the song is about alright?” 2. “Little Sally Walker, walkin’ down the street. She didn’t know what to do so she stopped in front of me and said ‘Hey you, do your thing, do your thing, do your thing. Hey you, do your thing, do your thing now stop!’” 3. “Who was the song about?” “Right, Little Sally Walker. Ok now I’m going to sing a line and I want you to repeat it back to me.” “Little Sally Walker, walkin’ down the street” “She didn’t know what to do so she stopped in front of me” “And said hey you, do your thing” “do your thing, do your thing” “hey you do your thing” “do your thing, now stop!” 4. Good let’s try it again but repeat a little longer lines. Listen carefully! “Little Sally Walker walkin’ down the street. She didn’t know what to do so she stopped in front of me” “And said hey you do your thing, do your thing, do your thing” “Hey you do your thing, do your thing, now stop!” 5. Good, let’s try it all together! (sing whole song all together) 6. Get into a circle. Teach movements. While singing, everyone in the circle will step from side to side and clap. When it gets to the “she stopped in front of me…” part, everyone stops clapping and points to whoever “Sally” stops in front of. There is one person in the middle of the circle who is “Sally.” They will skip around the middle of the circle during the song and when it gets to the “stopped in front of me” part, they stop in front of whoever they’re by when we say me. (We will now use actual names. For example, if they stop in front of me we would sing Hey Kiley, do your thing… Hey Kiley do your thing…) While everyone is singing “Do your thing…” part the person busts a move. Instead of saying “now stop” at the end, we’ll say “now switch” and the person dancing becomes Sally and the old Sally joins the circle in their place. 7. (Closure) “So who was our song about today?
