Seth Duprey at the SW committee request - set this up.

Present: Ken Smith, Pat Lindner, Florence Briski, Ashley Volovsek, Peggy Jackson, Beth Kaiser, Janet Boh, Deb Ortner and Seth Duprey

Meeting at church to look at and hear/play their new organ. A representative from John Allen Organ Company joined us at the church, the organ was purchased from the Allen Organ Company last year.

The representative showed us what an electronic organ like this could do. Demonstrated the organ and later each organist that wanted to played.

MaryJo Gregorich, Peggy Jackson, Seth Duprey and Deb Ortner each played. If organs are purchased 4 weeks of lessons are included.

This organ company is the only one based in the United States and the model we looked at used high quality solid wood and metals not plastic.

Allen Organs sold both Greenwood and Loyal their last organs; they were purchased at the same time. The service we received has been good. Our organs are aging and some parts don’t work, repairs on the organ will soon cost more than there are worth. Some parts are hard to find if they exist. These models are obsolete. They have over lived their expected work life well over thirty years.

The quality of sound was great! If purchased we decided the addition of a Vista Navigator, a device that has many pre-recorded songs, many more stop settings (different sounds) an can record the organist playing. It does have the capability of playing a song by our organists, than you could go down stairs and listen to the music. This is mostly used for improving an organist playing. A new tool, you could record something like Holy, Holy – and pressing the correct button, have it playing without the organist actually playing the song at that time.

The other addition would be a sound system in front; it comes with one in the back. When the front one was off it made a big difference, with both speaker systems on the sound surrounded you. With just the back speaker the sound seemed lost.

We adjourned for a meeting. There is a used organ, slightly used from lessons on the floor, the cost would be less. If two organs are purchased they could give our parishes a better deal yet.

We will talk further.

Easter week:

St. Mary’s: Father Bayuk needed more servers, some didn’t show up. Holy Thursday

Holy Family: Father Bayuk – small group didn’t need to hold a service.

Vigil: Father Steve and Father Joe: Beautiful Service

Discussed: Holy Thursday adoration

Suggestions: request Confirmation students schedule in for a mass. Same for Foot washing.

When to Sacred Heart Catholic Church on South Central – Seth had made arrangements to play the pipe organ they have. Several organists played after Seth. We decided we liked the sound of the electronic organ best; it would be new, where a used pipe organ would be much more expensive, and might me in need of repair.

Meeting ended about 8:20 p.m.

Respectfully submitted by Janet Boh: approval pending
