1. Apologies for Absence Apologies from 82 members were received.
2. Adoption of Minutes of the First Quarterly General Meeting held on 26 March 200 9 There being no comments, the minutes of the First Quarterly General Meeting held on 26 March 2009 were proposed for adoption by LEE King Fun Andrew and seconded by WONG Chi Kui. The minutes were confirmed as a true record.

4. Report from the Honorary Secretary The Honorary Secretary updated members on the recent developments in the 6 Boards in the second quarter of 2009 with a power-point presentation, which included the Forum on Building Design to Foster a Quality & Sustainable Built Environment, Sichuan Earthquake Relief Volunteers, Co-operation with Hebei Province, HK-Shenzhen Bi-city Biennale 2009, bidding for hosting ARCASIA in Hong Kong 2012, Proposed HKIA Accredited List of Practices, Group Professional Indemnity Insurance, CEPA–Construction Project Managers,
The Hong Kong Institute of Architects – The Second Quarterly General Meeting 2009_22 June 2009 2 Reinforcement of Mandatory CPD, Annual Awards 2008, Professional Assessment 2008, New Members’ Welcoming Party, Dragonboat Team & Football Team and Annual Dinner 2009. He also highlighted the various courtesy visits and net-working meetings with photo slide shows for members’ information.

5. Report by the Honorable Patrick LAU, SBS, JP, Legco Member for Functional Constituency – Architectural, Surveying and Planning The Honorable Patrick LAU, SBS, JP reported that the LegCo Panel on Development discussed the following: “Ten Major Infrastructure related projects” “Review of the Urban Renewal Strategy” “Harbourfront Planning”.
Members were invited to read the details of report, which was uploaded onto the front page of www.hkia.net on 22 June 2009.
6. Report from the President The President thanked Honorary Secretary for the quarterly report. She announced that the 3rd QGM would also be held at the same venue at 7:00pm on 24 Sept 2009.

7. A Speech by Mr. Duncan PESCOD, JP, Permanent Secy for Commerce & Economic Development (Communications and Technology) Vice President, K S WONG welcomed and introduced Mr. Duncan PESCOD as the speaker of the Second QGM.
Mr. PESCOD gave an overall view of creative industries in Hong Kong in his power point presentation, with particular reference to architectural related industries.
Mr. PESCOD recognized that the creativity industries in Hong Kong were important and were influencing internationally. He quoted examples of film industry and the design of Octopus being modeled by Holland and Dubai.
Details of his speech were embodied in his power point which was uploaded onto the HKIA website.

8. Honorary Treasurer ’s Report The Honorary Treasurer briefly reported that a deficit budget was projected for the HKIA 2009/10. On the other hand, an unaudited surplus of over HK$2 million was anticipated in the 08/09 financial year.
9. P r esentation of Certificates to Corporate Member Apology of absence was received from Woods Bagot Asia Limited.
10.
