ALIVE IN LOVE, ALIVE IN GOD Our PSR is off to a wonderful start this year. It was good to see so many families at the opening prayer services the first week and to pray together as a PSR community of faith. Our theme “Alive in Love Alive in God”, takes on many different examples. In order to really be alive in love we need to know what love is. In St. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians he writes "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." (1 Corinthians 13:4-8) This passage expresses the kind of love that is possible when the love of Jesus is reflected in a relationship. These words can help us recognize the degree to which the love of Christ is present in our relationship with each other, by substituting our own names for the word "love.” Rose is patient, Rose is kind. She does not envy, she does not boast, she is not proud. She is not rude, she is not self-seeking, she is not easily angered, she keeps no record of wrongs. As I hear my name taking the place of "love," at some points the words are true, but at times I am embarrassed as I realize how my love falls short of this ideal. How are these words from Scripture reflected in your own relationships –with your spouse, children, parents, brothers and sisters, friends and/or co workers? We are the best examples for our children and they will model us. Sometimes love asks us to say I’m sorry or to forgive someone. Sometimes love is not a word but an action of service. Each day will bring new opportunities and new challenges to show our love to each other and to God. Each family is receiving a “Celebrating Sundays with Catholic Families” booklet with the Sunday readings for the year. I hope you find these helpful at home. We have our New Family Gathering for parents of children in Kindergarten, 1st grade and all new families on September 21 in the Adult Ed Room at 6:30PM. New families in the later session are welcome to join parents at 7PM with food and parent resources. We will have our first Family Service Day on October 4 from 10:30AM-1:30PM. Families can come anytime and stay for as long as they would like. This is a great way for 8th graders to earn service hours. Parents are invited to the Partners in Prayer series each month. Our first night will be October 19th at 6:30PM in the Adult Ed Room. The 8th graders will attend a Confirmation Rally from 1-5PM on Sept 26 at Duchesne high school. Parents of 8th graders are invited to join them for Mass in the high school gym at 4PM. Parents, Candidates and Sponsors are asked to attend a Confirmation Meeting on October 8 at 7PM in church to help prepare them for the sacrament. I continue to keep you in my prayers, especially those who have asked for my prayers and all who have health concerns. May God bless you and your family, Rose Wieschhaus, Director of Religious Education for Children ORANGE PARENT PICK UP CARD FOR PARENTS OF GRADES K-3 Just a reminder that parents who are entering the building to pick up their child(ren) need to bring their orange family pick up card with them each week. PARTNERS IN PRAYER, MONTHLY PRAYER EXPERIENCES FOR PARENTS Our first Partners in Prayer day is October 19, 2015. All parents are invited to join me in the Adult Ed Room from 6:30-7:15PM as we spend some time learning new ways to connect to God. This month I will be showing you how to create a prayer space or sanctuary for yourself, whether that space is in your home, car or office, and using a few methods to engage in meditational prayer. The challenges of daily life take a toll in energy, time and effort. And the space and rest we need to recuperate-physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually-is usually pushed to the back burner. There are no discussion groups just a chance for you to stop your busy day and spend time in a place that allows us to reflect, rejuvenate and restore our spiritual life. Besides our time restraints, many of us have not really been taught how to pray to develop a deeper sense of God around us. Prayer is our way to talk to God, but often in our hurried life, we don’t take the time to really connect and spend time and really get to know our God and all He has in store for us. Please RSVP to [email protected] or 926-0021 by the morning of Oct 19 if you plan on attending. LADIES CLUB NEWS With cooler weather comes the need for warmth for the homeless. We start making Ugly Quilts on Monday, Sept 14th. These “ugly” quilts are sleeping bags made of repurposed material. Every Monday at 7PM and Tuesday at 8AM during September and October we will meet in the Ministries Building. We can also use more material; old sheets, blankets, quilts, comforters, etc. For more information, call Helen at 922-7573.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION We are offering the following programs for this fall. We have many groups already studying the Bible. Won’t you join our new groups this fall? Programs start the weeks of Oct 5. Sign ups will be after all the Masses or call Pat Bennett at 636 544-4600. Our Father’s Plan-Jeff Cavins and Scott Hahn If you have been waiting for a Bible series to quench your thirst for Scripture study, well look no further! In this 13 part series, Dr. Scott Hahn and Jeff Cavins team up to bring you the most comprehensive guide for understanding the message and meaning of God’s Word. 1Corinthians: - Tim Gray The Church and the Christian Community explores the key elements that the apostle Paul introduced to a new and growing Church. St Paul taught the Corinthians about the nature of grace and the Church as the Body of Christ. In addition, he introduced the Corinthian Christians to the most powerful gift of all, the Eucharist. Galatians-Jeff Cavins Paul’s letter to the Galatians speaks directly to the heart of Christians and addresses the most important question we can ask: “What must we do to be saved?” This fascinating letter reveals the merciful love that God the Father has for us, his children. It speaks of the extraordinary gift of salvation that Jesus has won for us, and it explains how we can unite ourselves to Christ’s redeeming sacrifice through faith and love. Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible This series uncovers the story woven throughout Scripture so that you can get the “big picture” of the Bible and understand what it is all about. The Bible is a story about the Father’s unfailing love for you- a love that you are now called to share with others. Make sense of the Bible and see how it relates to your everyday lives.

SHOP FOR OUR SCHOOLS As in the past, we will be using the Shop for Our School Program as our main fundraiser. Each family pays a $30 registration fee. Once a family earns their $30 profit (approx. $1200 sales) they will have the opportunity to “waive” their registration fee for the following PSR school year if they continue to use the program. A family will have until March 1, 2016 to reach their goal. Each year more and more families participate in this simple and easy way to earn money for the PSR program. If you haven’t tried Shop for Our Schools, please give it a try. It only takes a few minutes, and the certificates are available during PSR as well as on Sundays before and after Mass.

POPE FRANCIS VISIST THE UNITED STATES The Pope will be in Washington DC from Sept 22-24 and in New York from Sept 25-27. For a detailed look at the Pope’s official schedule go to popefrancisvisit.com
