Junior Doctor Clinical Audit of the Year

Junior Doctor Clinical Audit of the Year Call for Entries – 2012 Competition

Since 2010 the Clinical Audit Support Centre Ltd (CASC) have been responsible for running the annual ‘Junior Doctor Clinical Audit of the Year’ competition. The competition has been a huge success with over 100 entries each year. All abstracts are independently assessed and successful entrants are shortlisted for a Finals Day where posters are displayed. The 2011 Finals Day took place in November 2011 and the quality of posters was exceptional.

As the 2012 competition draws near, the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford are aiming to achieve an unprecedented hat-trick of wins having seen Dr Simon Kreckler et al take 1st prize in 2010 and Dr Maughan et al follow up this success. In 2011 we also introduced the new ‘Martin Ferris’ award for the audit that Martin considers to be the best entry and this will be retained in 2012. The competition has also led to CASC creating an online resource of posters submitted by junior doctors and we now devote one issue of the CASC journal each year to showcasing the work from the competition.

We are delighted to announce that the competition will be running again in 2012. The purpose of this document is to make you aware of the competition and provides details of how junior doctors can enter their work.

The format for the competition is as follows:

1) All entries must be submitted by the end of August 2012 2) Initial judging will take place in September and by 10th October all entrants will have received feedback 3) Finalists will then be invited to attend the relevant conference taking place in Leicester in November 2012 (date to be confirmed). The conference will include presentations from 2010/11 winners.

All finalists will receive a 25% reduction on the conference delegate fee. The winning entry will be selected by the judging panel and announced at the conference. Cash prizes are available to a total of four winning entrants.

All winners will:

 Have their submission published in Clinical Audit Today journal  Be asked to present their audit at the 2013 conference and this includes one free conference place
