MEETING MINUTES August 23, 2010

WELCOME 1. Call to Order and Welcome – Ron Nickelson Ron called the meeting to order at 6:47 p.m. His opening remarks were directed toward the indicent on Friday at the Varsity Scrimmage vs Spring High School. The news media managed to defame the character of CSHS football players and fans and our effort now is to turn that around. Attendees: Melinda Madden, Kris Still, Lance & Andrea Stephens, Teri & Jeff States, Jamie Hester, Dee Maddox, Renee Bourgeois, Priscilla & Angel Perales, Ron Nickelson, Vestal, Paige Newman, Bill McDuffer (sp?), Leland Johnson, April Freeman, shannon Sauerta, Melissa Peel, Jeff Doebler, Tina Grisham, P. J. Miller, Michelle richardson, Kia Singleton, Sue Oberholtzer, Benny Jaramillo

2. Coach’s Comments - Coach Hartman Coach Hartman’s made an announcement that there were no referees for the JV games on Friday night so those games would be held Saturday morming at 8:00 a.m and 9:30 a.m. at Dawson High School.

REPORTS 3. Secretary’s Report - Melinda Madden Minutes from August 9 meeting were distributed. There were no corrections/additions and they were approved as read.

4. Treasurer’s Report – Priscilla Perales Financial reports will be prepared monthly when statements are received. There is no financial report this month. Current balance as of 08/23/10 is $12,511.36

5. Vice President of Communication – Sue Oberholtzer Sue has been sending out emails to the distribution she has to date (144 Freshmen, 178 JV and 110 Varsity) but she is still missing some. She is attempting to complile a COMPLETE updated list but needs player/parent support. If you know of anybody who is not on the distribution list please one Sue or one of the officers know.

6. Guest Speaker – Chick-fil-a Fundraising Opportunity The speaker from Chick-fil-a was unable to attend this meeting but basically they will prepare the sandwiches for us and have them at our home games to sell and we make $1 per sandwich. We will look into this fundraiser further as an option for us. OLD BUSINESS 7. Old Business a. Merchandise Update – Benny Jaramillo Merchandise sales have been substantial - $2603. He is still waiting on flags and sticks which should be available next week. We will need additional parental support to sell merchandise at home games. Sign up sheets are available for those who are interested. b. Program Update – Doug Jensen Much progress has been made on the program sales - $5449 other ads so far and have a firm commitment on another $8K. Several student ads have also been placed. c. Golf Tournament – Ron Nickelson/Doug Jensen No firm commitment for the date/place on next year’s golf tournament d. Website Updates – Kelly Still Parents are asking when the website would be updated with roster information. Coaches have just received the roster and will submit to Kelly or Kris for uploading. e. Audit Status – Still not completed Christie Erickson (CCISD Internal Audtior) is aware of our problem regarding getting the required information submitted on time. She will work with Dawn and Priscilla to get this resolved and make sure we are in compliance. f. NEW BUSINESS 8. New Business a. Esteban’s Spaghetti Dinner – Dawn Mennor Esteban’s has withdrawn their offer to host this fundraising event. We will look at other fundraising efforts at a later date b. Homecoming Carnival – October 15 Dawn Mennor will chair this event and will sell BBQ sandwich meals. She is soliciting donations of briskets, buns, chips and drinks from the parents. c. Meet the Chargers – August 25 This will be held on Wednesday at 6:30 in the gym. A table will be set up for Merchandise and Membership

9. Open Floor a. Run-through Tunnel – Angel Perales will store and deliver the tunnel to the games but needs addititional people to help him set it up once he gets it there.
