MINUTES OF THE MOUNT HOLYOKE COLLEGE STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAAC)
Sunday, September 13, 2015 – Kendade 305, 7– 8 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. eastern time by the chair, Cathleen Pruden. The members noted above were present.
1. Welcome and Announcements
Ms. Pruden brought the meeting to order. Each in season team gave a brief update about their season, including soccer being ranked #2 in the NEWMAC, field hockey’s tough loss in double overtime to Wellesley, new PRs for the cross country team from the Williams meet, and golf in fifth place in their home tournament.
2. Approval of Minutes (Nicole Perkins)
It was VOTED that the minutes of the September 13, 2015 meeting be approved as written.
3. Andy Reiter – Faculty Athletics Rep (Andy Reiter)
Mr. Reiter asks that athletes who have problems with academics in athletics talk to him so that he can relate messages to the faculty and help to create solutions to better the academic lives of athletes. Jess Taylor raised the point of research credits for psychology classes being during practice times. Other SAAC members agreed that athletes regularly miss out on academic opportunities during practice times.
4. Annual Review of the Bylaws (Nicole Perkins) Ms. Perkins reviewed the updated bylaws. The SAAC decided that the Public Relations subcommittee will now make sure to have athletic events regularly placed into news outlets for student awareness.
5. Budget Update (Claire Beckett) MHC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes Sunday, September 27, 2015 Page No. 2 ______ Ms. Beckett informed the SAAC that the SAAC is on contingency funding and will further update the SAAC at the next meeting.
6. Focus on Athletics (Summer Hutcheson)
Ms. Hutcheson lead the SAAC in a discussion about Monday lunch following Focus on Athletics. Many groups had trouble with the locations of lunches because they were in popular dining halls.
7. Locker Room Theft (Summer Hutcheson)
Ms. Hutcheson reviewed the situation of the locker theft, recommended locking up any valuables in lockers when leaving the locker room, and informed the SAAC that, while the new key pads may help the situation, athletes should continue being cautious.
8. Google Drive Sharing and Website (Cathleen Pruden)
Ms. Pruden discussed the SAAC website update and the addition of a SAAC google drive.
9. Support the Arts Event (Anna Hartman)
The SAAC voted on attending Waking Sleepy Hollow for the Friday October 23rd showing at 7:30pm as the Arts event of the semester.
10. Capture the Flag Debrief (Cathleen Pruden)
Ms. Pruden reviewed the Capture the Flag game, which included around 50 students. If SAAC hosts another Capture the Flag game, it was decided that rules should be better regulated and the use of only the rugby field would be preferred.
11. Announcements (EBoard)
Next Game of the Week is Volleyball vs Wellesley, hosted by Track and Field, on September 29, 2015.
12. Next Meeting: Sunday, October 4 th , 2015 from 7-8 p.m. (Kendade 305)
