USE OF PASEC DATA ARCHIVE

Preamble

On decision of the Ministers of CONFEMEN, PASEC is prepared to make the PASEC data archive available to researchers and students. However, PASEC reserves the right to decide to whom the data archive will be made available.

It is a condition for obtaining and using the PASEC data archive that you provide PASEC with the results of your research, publications or working papers. We also require that you clearly mention the PASEC in your references. If you research papers is available on the Internet, the specific link could also be listed on the website, with your consent. Indeed, our aim is to improve access to work on educational assessment, particularly for people from developing countries.

Although much care was taken to ensure that the information contained in the PASEC data archive is correct, data for all countries are not always available, especially concerning the oldest assessments that were produced by other research centers and only financed through PASEC. Moreover, the oldest datasets are not always totally documented. However since 2006, the PASEC has been working on the harmonization and documentation of datasets relative to thematic and diagnostic assessments that began in 2003. The use of the data is solely under the responsibility of their user.

PASEC technical advisors are at your disposal for further information. Please note that a methodological guide and a manual of procedures are currently being drafted, that will describe in details the methods for collecting and processing data.

As soon as the request has been approved, PASEC provides the user with a login and a password, allowing him to access data directly from the website: www.confemen.org. Thus, the user can download data on the PASEC page, category “Accès aux données du PASEC”. The size of the datasets varies between 5 and 10 Mo, depending on the country.

The applicant who wishes to access the data archive should supply information required on pages 2 and 3 and fill in the declaration on page 3.

Please note that all the completed forms should only be sent to: [email protected]
