Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Grants Officer

Reporting to: Grants Manager

Location: London, UK

Purpose of the Post

The Assistant Grants Officer will provide support to the Grants team (up to 6 staff) and across teams to achieve ambitious income targets. This role will provide core duties of researching fundraising opportunities, managing donor meetings and systems as well as providing effective and efficient administration on ad-hoc requests.

Key responsibilities

Research  Responsible for researching and identifying new prospects and fundraising opportunities for trusts, foundations and government funders.  Conduct detailed due diligence on identified funding opportunities  Communicate research findings with the Grants team

Diary management  Create informative and accurate briefing documents for senior staff and grants team in preparation for meetings with prospects and donors.  Organise travel arrangements for fundraising related trips  Work closely with the Assistant to the CEO to organise meetings where CEO is involved  Create and co-ordinate team meetings and their minutes

System management  Responsible for supporting the grants team with data management on our CRM platform – Salesforce. This will include ensuring all research information is up to date, producing and monitoring monthly reports, grant management administration and data cleaning.  Work with the Senior Development Officer to enhance Salesforce development  Update any other relevant system/database for the Development team

Account management  Provide support to members of the Grants Team in developing new funding proposals  Provide reports where required  Develop excellent working relationships with the campaign and finance teams, understanding their work in order to identify suitable prospects

Administration support  Support the Senior Development Officer and other members of the team in organisation of London based cultivation and stewardship events and donor dinners  Input to the general administration for the development team  Any other duties equal to the skills and responsibilities required for this role as directed by the Director of Development Ways of working and collaborating

 Ensure that all fundraising reflects the ethical policies of Global Witness, and complies with all relevant fundraising and data protection requirements  Work collaboratively with colleagues across Global Witness to collectively deliver on our mission, vision, aims, objectives, and plans  Make a positive contribution to the team and the wider organisation by playing an active role in campaign and organization-wide working groups and meetings  Demonstrate a strong commitment to creating an inclusive, equal and diverse workplace  Work within Global Witness’ policies, processes and procedures at all times.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:  Excellent attention to detail  Ability to write clearly and comprehensively;  Proven ability to prioritise and organise own workload effectively and efficiently and meet deadlines;  Well-developed interpersonal skills to deal effectively, efficiently and appropriately with internal and external stakeholders including senior staff;  Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, prospect research tools, and fundraising databases;  Good numeracy skills and accurate data entry skills;  Ability to work independently and as part of a team;  A personal commitment to the Global Witness’ aims and objectives and an understanding of or willingness to learn about the areas of natural resources, corruption and conflict

Desirable:  Experience of using Salesforce  Previous experience of working in a charity and/or fundraising environment;  Understanding of the UK and / or international government and trusts and foundations and / or statutory sector
