Please return by September 18th Room Parent Guidelines
Every parent whether Head Room Parent, Team Member, or Send-In Helper should know that the purpose of the Room Parent Program is to offer our assistance to the teachers and to make sure every child has fun.
. Each classroom will have two Head Room Parents in addition to Team Members and Send-in Helpers. This gives as many parents as possible the opportunity to be involved in their child’s classroom. . Head Room Parents are responsible for planning and organizing the parties in accordance to the teacher’s wishes. . Team Members are any parents who volunteer to help out at the parties. If there are several Team Members in one classroom, then it is up to the Head Room Parents to randomly choose which team members will go to each party. No more than one party may be attended by each team member until all have had the opportunity to attend at least one party. . Send-in Helpers are those parents who are not available during the school day, but are willing to send in various items for use during the parties. *Note: Depending on the number of Send-In Helpers in the classroom, Team Members may also be asked to send in supplies. . Head Room Parent Volunteers are chosen by the PTA Board and will be notified. Classroom teachers have final approval on all Head Room Parent choices. . There are five possible party occasions: Halloween, Winter, Valentine’s Day, Spring, and End of the Year. . It is up to the classroom teachers to decide the day, time and length of each party, as well as types of activities during the party. . Attendance on class trips is at the discretion of the teacher. . The teacher will also decide on whether to allow siblings to attend parties. . Please talk to the teacher before planning any activities. . Head Room Parents must read the “Holiday Party Guidelines” included in your folder before planning parties. . A letter should be sent home to the parents requesting a donation to cover the expense of the class parties. (sample will be provided) An amount should be set at no more than $5.00 per student. This should be a onetime request and it should be stated that the donation is voluntary. Checks are to be made payable to Head Room Parents.
. Teacher’s Birthdays can be a surprise with a treat, balloons, flowers or cupcakes. Please get the approval before hand from Mr. Feldman. . If you become a Room Parent, Team Member or Send-In Helper you must become a member of the PTA and attend at least two general PTA meetings during the school year. You are required to take an active role in at least one of our many committees. . Emergency cards provide home and work numbers for children in the class, they are to be utilized in an emergency closing of the school when parents need to be contacted. Room Parents are to make calls only when instructed to do so. They are not to be used for snow days.
Have a FUN Year!
