Post Title: Qualifications Development Officer

Hours per week: 37 Hours

Responsible to: Quality, Standards and Compliance Manager

Location: Certa Office in Wakefield. Travel to and from other sites as required, to carry out the role.

1. Job Purpose, duties and responsibilities:

1.1.To ensure that Certa complies with Ofqual and QAA regulations and quality assurance requirements, including reports and ongoing self- assessment, in relation to Qualification and Unit development

1.2.To apply a strategic management approach to the internal and external approval processes of new qualifications and amendments to existing qualifications and units

1.3.To develop, write, review and quality assure new Units, Qualifications (including Access to HE Diplomas) for submission to Regulatory Bodies and Funding Agencies.

1.4.To write Qualification Specifications and support the production of Exemplar Assessments and other resources as required.

1.5.To source and work with relevant curriculum specialists to contribute to Qualifications and Units development process

1.6.To organise the internal and external approval processes of new Qualifications and Access to HE Diplomas and amendments to existing qualifications and Units

1.7.To regularly review the development practice and approval process of Qualifications and unit developments against the Ofqual and QAA regulatory criteria, under the guidance of the Quality, Standards and Compliance Manager.

1.8.To liaise and work with the Head of Business Development and Customer Relations in the design and development of new and existing Qualifications and units

D:\Docs\2017-12-13\04d1a0b80fee608f370a0e191e64323f.doc Page 1 of 3 1.9. To work to the Senior Management Team (SMT) in reviewing the Expressions of Interest of new Qualifications, as submitted to the SMT.

1.10. To contribute to marketing and promotion of Certa Access to HE Diplomas, Qualifications and Units.

1.11. To provide support to the Chief Executive Officer and the Senior Management Team in providing the Board of trustees and associated committees with statistics and reports as required.

1.12. To represent Certa at both national and regional events and appropriate external committees as required.

2. People

2.1To work to the Head of Business Development and Customer Relations, providing regular updates and reports on own sales and business activity and contribute to the setting and monitoring of individual and Team targets.

2.2To pro-actively support and contribute to a sales orientated performance management culture and deliver excellent customer service, matching our Investors in People, Customer First and Two Ticks aspirations

2.3To work closely with the Qualifications and Development Team in all aspects of the Qualification Development Process.

2.4To provide appropriate support for all Certa staff and externally contracted workers on Qualification Development processes, as required.

2.5To contribute to the improved performance of Certa by continually reviewing and implementing improved working practices and processes

2.6To work in full accordance with Certa HR policies, systems and practices, including Equality and Diversity Policy, Health and Safety and Wellbeing in the Workplace Policy and Dignity at Work Policy, and to ensure that job related training and development needs are identified and managed appropriately

2.7To ensure self and others adhere to Certa’s Equality and Diversity Policy, Health and Safety and Wellbeing in the Workplace Policy and Dignity at Work Policy at all times.

2.8To contribute to and support the provision of a clean, safe and healthy environment in which to work for all office based staff and external visitors

3. Planning

3.2 To update and report to the Senior Management Team on key issues relating to Quality, Standards and Compliance, in the context of Ofqual and QAA requirements.

3.3 To account to the Quality, Standards and Compliance Manager to provide appropriate, timely and accurate reports and communications as required.

4. Financial

4.1 To apply the most efficient and cost effective use of Certa resources at all times, and to scope out the costs and risks associated with product development and commissioned work prior to their authorisation and commencement.

5. Other

5.1 To undertake any other duties as appropriate to the post as requested by the Chief Executive Officer.
