Del Dayo Library Caldecott Medal Book Club 1st - 3rd Graders
Reading books from either your school or the public library provides a great opportunity to read award winning books! The Caldecott Award is given to the book with the best illustrations, chosen by the American Library Association. The first book to receive this award was The Animals of the Bible in 1938! Every year since then a book has been selected as a Caldecott Medal winner!
I hope you will join the 2015-2016 Del Dayo Library Caldecott Medal Book Club. All you have to do is read or hear 8 Caldecott Award winning books between August 24, 2015 - May 13, 2016. Keep a record of what you have read or heard. Please tell your parent about the story and get their signature. No more than 2 books may be word-less (pictures only). If the book is AR leveled and your class takes AR quizzes, please take an AR quiz and ask your teacher to put your score and their initials on the form. (You must have 80% correct or better!)
There is a complete listing of the award winning books in the Del Dayo Library as well as a poster that displays the winning books. All Caldecott Award winning books in the Del Dayo LIbrary have a gold star on their spine.
In May, turn this form in to Mrs. Alcalay. You will be invited to an end of the year Book Club cookie and milk party in the library and will receive a special certificate.
Welcome to the Club!
