Minutes of the 288 th meeting of the Registration Committee held on 11.04.2008 at 10.30 A.M . in Room No.142, Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi .

The 288th meeting of the Registration Committee (RC) was held under the Chairmanship of Dr. N.B. Singh, Agriculture Commissioner on 11.04.2008 at 10.30 A.M. in Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi. Dr. P. S. Chandurkar, Plant Protection Adviser to the Govt. of India, Dr. T.P. Rajendran, ADG(PP), ICAR and Dr. (Mrs.) S. Kulshrestha, Secretary, CIB&RC attended the meeting. At the outset the Chairman welcomed the participants and requested Secretary, CIB&RC to take up Agenda for discussion. The following decisions were taken: Agenda item No.

Agenda item No.1.0 Confirmation of minutes of the 287th meeting of the Registration Committee The Minutes of the 287th meeting of the Registration Committee (RC) were confirmed.

Agenda item No.2.0 Follow up action on the decision taken by the Registration Committee in its 287th meeting. The Committee noted the status of follow-up action taken with satisfaction. Agenda item No.2.1 Applications pending under various Sub-Sections of the Insecticides Act, 1968 The Committee noted the statement with reference to pending applications. Agenda item No.3.0 Government Business Agenda item No 3.1 Streamlining of label-leaflets of Lindane in the light of Gazette Notification No. S.O. 1742 (E) issued on 29.08.2007

The Committee deliberated the agenda in detail and approved the proposal of the Sectt. of CIB&RC regarding streamlining of registration/label-leaflet of Lindane in view of Gazette Notification dated 29.8.2007. The Committee decided that the updated leaflets from Databank indicating label claims from termite control only be issued to all registrants of lindane 20% E.C. and 6% granules. Further all the label claims with reference to Lindane 0.65% DP, 1.3% DP, 6.5%WP lindane 0.05% +Pyrethrin 0.05%, Lindane 0.02% + Pyrethrum 0.02% + PBO 0.5%, Lindane 0.5% + Pyrethrin 0.02% + PBO 0.02% and Carbaryl + lindane 4.4% Gr. Granule should be deleted and a statement `For export only’ should be incorporated on the certificate of registration and label-leaftlet of these Lindane formulations. Agenda item No 8.2 Issue of Import Permit for Boric Acid & other substances for non-insecticidal use. ( Deferred Agenda Item No. 8.4 of 287th RC Meeting)

Agenda item No 9.1 Consideration of request by Borax Manufacturers Association of India, Mumbai, for Confidentiality Agreement prior submission of Information The Committee deliberated the agenda in detail and rejected the request of Borax Manufacturers Association of India to sign any kind of the confidentiality agreement. The Committee

3 decided to advise Borax Manufacturers Association to submit the information immediately regarding the quantum and sale of Boric Acid manufactured by the domestic Boric Acid manufacturers as per the directives issued to them. Agenda item No 9.2 Considertion of request by Crop Care Federation of India, New Delhi, for reviewing the Guidelines for minimum infrastructure facilities to be created by the manufacturers vide F.No. 17- 61/2006-PP.I dated 4th January 2007 The Committee decided to take up this matter in the meeting of the Pesticide Association to be held on 16.4.2008 Agenda item No 9.3 Consideration of request by Pesticides Manufacturers & Formulators Association of India, Mumbai, for registration guidelines for product included in the Insecticides

The Committee decided to refer the representation of PM FAI to the Group constituted by the Registration Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr.O.P.Dubey for dual-use pesticides including their registration.

Agenda item No 10 Any other item with the Permission of Chair Agenda item No 10.1 Presentation by M/S.ROHM & Haas Pvt. Ltd. on 11.4.2004 A presentation was made by M/s.Rohm & Hass(India) Pvt. Ltd. on technology involving use of 1-Methylcyclopropene Alpha Cyclodextrin Complex 3.3% VP for which they have filed a registration application for import.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the Chair. ******
