Job Description: Intervention and Recovery Coordinator

Hours of Work: 21 hours per week (some out of hours working will be necessary)

Salary Scale: £27,052- £28,636 per annum, pro rata for part time

Responsible to: Head of Service

Purpose of the post: To be responsible for the day to day management, support and development of:  The IRIS Advocate Educator and the implementation and role out of the IRIS project across North Nottinghamshire,  Medium Risk Intervention team  Medium risk plus service, looking at repeat complex medium risk cases  To oversee and support the women’s counselling service

Ways of Working The organisation is made up of paid and unpaid workers working as a team to discuss and agree decisions. Paid and unpaid workers are consulted on forward planning and longer term developments. All workers bring their own individual skills and are all valued equally. Encouraging and nurturing skills are crucial to the personal and professional development of workers and that of the organisation as a whole. We aim to empower women by encouraging them to make their own decisions and to support these decisions no matter what they may be.

Duties:

1. Staff Management a) To provide line management, support, supervision and appraisals for the staff of the IRIS project, Medium risk intervention team leader, Women’s Counselling service and other staff as requested. b) To be proactive in the role out of the IRIS project across North Nottinghamshire and build up excellent relationships with the Clinical Commissioning Groups, ensuring national IRIS standards are maintained c) To ensure the volunteer counsellors are supported, placement reports are completed and regular service meetings are facilitated at all time maintaining the BCAP standards d) To liaise with educational institutes to recruit female counsellors level 4 or level 5, and to be responsible for the induction ongoing support e) To ensure that the Staff provides support, supervision and appraisals to volunteers, work placements and students. f) To develop and maintain excellent partnerships both operational and strategic across north Nottinghamshire 2 g) To ensure that agreed monitoring including targets and outcomes are adhered to in line with contracts and charitable funding secured. h) To ensure that staff development and training needs are identified and addressed within training budget constraints. i) To ensure that the quality standards achieved organisationally are maintained j) To dip test staff case files on a monthly basis to ensure the correct information is being captured k) To assist in the organisation of an annually agreed training programme for the staff team. l) To ensure that effective staff induction systems are implemented and monitored as appropriate within the Farr Centre or any other office space across the organisation. m) To assist in coordinating and attending Service Coordinators meetings. n) To coordinate staff cover, annual leave, on-call where necessary and to ensure the smooth running of services. o) Ensure all staff understand, implement and are involved in development of all Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid Ltd policies and procedures. p) To attend and facilitate team and project meetings as required. q) To assist with the recruitment within the project team or other services as requested by the head of services. r) To take turn on a rota basis to be the manager on call for the organisation s) To have an excellent understanding of Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid Ltd safeguarding polices and procedures

2. Finance a) To have responsibility for the financial management of the IRIS project, Medium risk services including medium risk plus and the women’s counselling service, including budget management. b) To assist in the development of the budget for the service in conjunction with the Head of Service and Finance Team Leader. c) To work with the Head of Service and Business Development Coordinator to develop and implement a fundraising strategy, including contributing to making funding applications. d) To ensure monitoring and financial procedures and relevant grant conditions are adhered to at all time. 3 3. Training a) To be work with the senior management team to develop training resources and the development and delivery of training courses as appropriate.

4. Development a) To participate in the development of services and implementation of the business plan for Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid b) To be aware of and disseminate information re: changes in legislation that impact upon women, children and young people affected by domestic violence and Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid services. c) To participate in the development and regular review of policies and procedures. d) To participate in the development and implementation of user consultation strategies, monitoring and evaluation systems as per agreed Quality Standards. e) To ensure that Services undergo annual reviews, equality impact assessments, and maintain achieved quality assurances. f) To work in conjunction with the management team to plan and deliver AGM.

5. Public Relations a) To ensure that the public profile of Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid is raised in conjunction with the Head of Service and all project staff. b) To participate in the development of publicity materials and information about the work of Nottinghamshire Women’s AId in conjunction with Head Of Service and all other staff c) To respond to media enquiries in liaison with the Head of Service. d) To maintain partnership working in conjunction with the Head of Service and all other staff to ensure representation of Nottinghamshire women’s aid on relevant forums and committees.

6. Board of Trustees a) To support the Board of Trustees in ensuring that Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid adheres to its memorandum and articles of association. b) To provide quarterly reports to the Head of Service for circulation to the board of trustees and other reports as required. c) To attend the Board of Trustees meetings, team meetings and other committees that form part of the structure of the organisation. d) To work with the Head of Service and members of staff to prepare plans with costs for submission to the Board of Trustees for the maintenance or expansion of the existing

4 service and for new developments and projects undertaken at Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid. e) To ensure the service user involvement policy is implemented f) To contribute to the production of the Annual Report for Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid.

7. Background Information Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid Ltd, formally Bassetlaw Women’s Aid Ltd was formed in 1984 by a group of women who saw the need for a Refuge in this area. Since then it has grown and developed services in response to need. It is a charitable company limited by guarantee governed by a Board of Trustees. In 2003 it changed its structure from a collective to a linear management structure and in 2006 after consultation with its members changed its name from Bassetlaw Women’s Aid Ltd to Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid Ltd It offers temporary emergency accommodation, confidential advice, information and support to single women and women with children who have been physically, emotionally or sexually abused.

Mission Statement Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid Ltd exists for the benefit of all women, young people and children experiencing physical, mental or sexual abuse in their relationships. We offer information, a menu of options, access to (temporary) accommodation, ongoing support and aftercare. Women’s Aid recognises that violence against women results from the unequal position of women in society. We are opposed to all forms of emotional and physical violence and abuse against women, young people and children. We are committed to the principle of self- help and self-determination and encourage women seeking advice, information, support or refuge to determine their own future.

Quality Assurance Women’s Aid National Quality Standards Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid Ltd has passed stage 1 of the Women’s Aid Federation England National Quality Standards.

Leading Lights Accreditation Our Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) service achieved Leading Lights Accreditation (a nationally recognised advocacy qualification) in July 2011, achieving re accreditation in January 2015. Currently only 20 other IDVA services have achieved this standard in the United Kingdom. Investors in People In September 2011 the organisation achieved recognition from Investors in People, being awarded the GOLD standard. In September 2014 we maintained the GOLD standard award. We are currently awaiting the outcome for Champion Status.

8 Aims and Objectives Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid Ltd aims to help women and their children who have experienced any form of physical, emotional or sexual abuse by meeting the following main objectives:

Refuge provision We will meet the immediate housing needs for women and their children who are escaping abuse by offering an immediate and temporary place of safety in the Refuge. Our “open door” policy ensures that no woman will be turned away without receiving assistance from our organisation. We will offer the women and their children the support needed to adapt to their new environment and to provide the appropriate advice to empower women by encouraging them to determine their own future without prejudice or persuasion.

Domestic Abuse Support Service We will enable the woman to maintain an assured short-hold tenancy through ongoing support and resettlement work up until the time the woman determines this is no longer needed. We will recognise the varied and individual needs of each woman by reflecting this in the personal support agreements and respect these individual needs.

We will ensure that all women who are or have experienced domestic violence and have chosen to stay within their existing homes are given the same opportunities for information, support, and training. We will endeavour to reduce the isolation of the women seeking our services due to location, disabilities, etc by providing an accessible rural as well as urban outreach service.

The Farr Centre We will provide support to women in the community who are experiencing domestic violence, abuse, poverty, unemployment and changes to their lives. We will provide information, support, guidance and training. We will enable women to develop skills through involvement in social activities, to become confident, self aware and assertive in order that they can take control of the lives through self- determination.

Children’s Services Young People Domestic Abuse Support Service We will provide direct support to young people and children as individuals, within the family or in groups, around their experiences of domestic violence. We will provide child-focused support to women around their children’s experiences of domestic violence. We will liaise and advocate on behalf of young people, children and carers with other local agencies in order to coordinate support services in the community.
