2015 Performance Appraisal Process

The performance appraisal process for the period of January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015 will be completed by March 18, 2016.

Eligibility: All employees hired prior to October 1, 2015 are eligible for a performance appraisal.

Opt-Out: Employees who have worked less than 500 hours in the appraisal year may choose to opt out of the process. Their supervisor must agree to the opt out. These employees will receive an automatic effective rating and a 1.5% merit increment.

Process: Employees prepare a self appraisal, evaluating their performance on leadership/core competencies and key area goals/core functions for their position(s).

Home department supervisors complete the written process by evaluating their staff using one form for all positions. Home Department Supervisors collaborate with the employee's other supervisors to complete the written evaluation. A point system is used to identify the level of performance. Competencies are worth 30% of the total score. Key area goals/core functions are worth 70% of the total score.

Meetings: The home department supervisor and the employee meet twice during the appraisal period.

The first meeting is to have discussion about the self appraisal and the supervisor's evaluation. The supervisor determines an overall rating after this meeting.

The second meeting takes place after the rating is validated by the Association Review Team and a merit increment has been assigned. The purpose of this meeting is to inform the employee of their overall rating and merit increment. Key area goals/core functions for the next year are finalized during this meeting.
