LPP Meeting Minutes

Meeting Date and Time: September 8th, 2014 5-6pm Location: Leckie ES Library (3rd Floor)

Introductions

Larissa Camilleri (Co-president LPP Council) = We are having a meeting every month. Check website calendar for details. We are looking for classroom and events volunteers.

Kate (Fishing School) = We are planning a literacy event for fall. Fishing School provides after school academics for 1st-5th grades.

Dan and Matt (City Year) = We do morning power greetings for motivation to start the school days. We provide academic support in the classrooms. We also help out during after school. City Year corps members work from 8am -6pm.

Ms. Allison (Leckie Parent and Beautification Team) = Shout outs to Ms. Allison for coordinating Leckie Beautification Day! She is also in charge of the Girl Scout troop at JBAB. She would like to focus on once-a-month maintenance (after school or a weekend day) to keep up our front and side school gardens. Also, the final planter in our garden (near the blacktop) needs to be fixed up. The date will be announce soon on the website.

Camilla Hale (Co-President LPP Council) = We want to focus on communication this year using the LPP email account, LPP facebook, Leckie facebook and Leckie school website. We are not part of the “PTA” organization this year because the dues were too high and we want to keep the membership dues for our students and school.

Markesha Hartsfield (Treasurer LPP Council) = In charge of “Military Smiles”. She is collecting membership dues for the current school year.

Erika Caputo (Secretary LPP Council and Leckie School Librarian) = She emphasized the need for better communication between school and parents by using the new Leckie LPP gmail account and using the Leckie school website. She maintains the LPP email account and the school website communication.

Dennita Ferrell (Parent Resource Center) = Provided a survey to parents to see how they can better serve the community. She provided many flyers and notices for upcoming PRC events and classes. PRC can also provide resources and referrals to our parents in the community. The PRC is open from 9-4pm Monday – Thursday. Events

Bake Sale = LPP is asking for volunteers to rotate for donated baked goods for the bake sale. We discussed implementing wrist bands for allergies (peanuts, coconut, etc..) Bake sales usually give each student 1 snack and 1 drink. Recipes must be included with baked goods for allergy purposes. The bake sale is every Thursday. Suggestion from a parent: send money/ bake sale coupon in a Ziploc bag with each student that states their allergies. LPP will send out a mass email for bake sale rotations.

Run or Dye = Flyer about times and dates is on the website.

Farmers Market = We need volunteers to stay with the market all day . Farmers Market is once a month and the dates and times can be found on the school website.

Volunteers = we need parents in the classrooms for communication and awareness.

School Menus = Monthly menus will be on the school website.

Next LPP Meeting: Monday October 5th, 2014. Wear a hat so we can celebrate “International Hat Day”.
