Baker: (253) 804-4555 Dear Students and Parents, My name is Mr. Carter. I will be your Trigonometry teacher for this school year. I am excited about the new curriculum your child will be learning. This class will carry an independent, collegiate philosophy. Students will build skills in note taking while utilizing the textbook as an instructional tool. There will not be any surprises. All material covered in tests and quizzes will be based on material taught in class. This means it is very important for students to be present every day for instruction, and keep up with regular homework assignments. Quizzes will be based on vocabulary. (Note Cards must be made for vocabulary terms.) Tests will be given every 2-3 weeks. (Students will use any hand written class notes while taking tests.)

Expectations: - You are Seated and ready to work when the bell rings - You are Respectful of all people and their property - You are Focusing attention on the teacher or student contributing to classroom learning - You are Prepared with planner, spiral notebook, pencil, paper, math book, and calculator - You are Taking daily notes in your Math Notebook and writing in your Planner daily as directed Assignments: - Complete assignments with the appropriate work shown o I will be available on Mondays after school for students needing additional instruction. - Students must honestly correct and score their own work. o All missed problems must be redone on a separate paper until all scores are perfect . All assignments for each unit must be corrected, ordered with the corrections page on top, stapled, and turned in with the chapter syllabus as a cover sheet to take the current unit test. . Tests can be scheduled for retake within one week when appropriate criteria is completed:  All Unit assignments AND the original test are corrected for mastery  Designated IXL and/or Khan Academy sections are completed for mastery  Correction Reflection completed and signed by parent Classroom: - Hall passes are a privilege, and will be restricted if abused - Mr. Carter, not the bell, will dismiss the class - Mt. Baker School rules/policies outlined in the Mt. In light of these rules and expectations, I would like my students and parents to know that I want all students to be successful in this class.
