FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
AUTHOR OF NEW YOUNG ADULT NOVEL SPREADS “GOOD KARMA” AMONG TEENS.
Bestselling author, Jessica Brody, has taken the message of her latest book to a whole new level. In THE KARMA CLUB (April 27, 2010), a group of teen girls decide to take Karma into their own hands by getting revenge on their ex-boyfriends. But in the end, when they learn that spreading good Karma, rather than the bad kind, is the key to living a better life, they launch a website that promotes just that message.
Sound like a good idea for a real website? Well, that’s exactly what the author thought. Jessica recently turned this fictional concept into a reality by launching TheKarmaClub.org, a non-profit website and organization that helps teens find ways to give back and spread “Good Karma” in their communities and around the world.
"When I'm really inspired by a book that I’m working on, the characters start writing themselves", says Brody. "Maddy, the main character of The Karma Club, definitely wanted to make a difference in the world and as soon as she had the idea to start the website, a light bulb went off in my head as well.” Excited about the prospect of building an organization that would make a positive impact on her core audience, Brody immediately started working on getting it off the ground.
“Macmillan Childrens (my publisher) has been 100% supportive,” says the author. “They’re thrilled about the launch of the website and the marketing and publicity team has been working round the clock to deliver the news of our message to the world.”

THE KARMA CLUB releases nationwide on April 27, 2010 from Farrar, Straus, Giroux and in the UK in June.
