WILLIAM C. PEVESTORFF HIGGINSVILLE LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP FUND

A Scholarship Award has been established by the Higginsville Lions Club in honor of a faithful, longstanding member, William C. Pevestorff. This scholarship will be presented to a graduate of Lafayette Co. C-1 School District who will be entering their third year of undergraduate school, majoring in the areas having to do with sight or hearing. The Scholarship will be no less than $500.00 and will in all likelihood be more. Selection will be based upon application and the criteria listed below.

I. SELECTION COMMITTEE

The Selection Committee will be appointed by the Higginsville Lions Club Executive Board.

II. SELECTION CRITERIA

A. The applicant will be selected without regard to sex, race, creed, or color.

B. Other considerations for selections:

1. Personal qualities of initiative, dependability and responsibility as evidenced by school and community citizenship.

2. Willingness to serve one’s community as evidenced by past service and future goals.

3. Applicant’s college transcript and list of extra-curricular activities.

4. Fulltime student must be entering their third year of studies planning to enter a career having to do with sight or hearing.

5. In the event no student is deemed eligible, the grant will not be made.

C. A winner and an alternate can be selected. The alternate will not be named unless the winner cannot accept the terms of the scholarship. The decision of the Selection Committee will be final.

III. TYPE OF COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY

College and Universities accredited by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges (or corresponding regional agencies) are eligible institutions.

IV. SCHOLARSHIP PAYMENT

The grant will be made payable jointly to the recipient and the institution at the rate of no less than $250.00 per semester during the student’s third year.

V. APPLICATION DEADLINE
