Her father is a 28 fraud investigator and her mother teaches school. She has two 29 brothers, Shaun, age nineteen, and Alan, age seventeen; and 30 31 Whereas, Ms. Hudson graduated from Lexington High School 32 where she was her class valedictorian. Her scholastic honors also 33 include being a Herring and Tandy scholar and achieving the 34 Dean’s list; and 35 36 Whereas, Heather graduated from Furman University where she 37 was a teaching assistant for music theory and an employee 38 coordinator. She has organized Just Say No/D.A.R.E. programs 39 for local elementary schools; and 40 41 Whereas, for her talent in the pageant, Heather sang a classical 42 number. This accomplished young woman has performed in

1 [3555] 1 1 twenty-two musical productions and operas and had a leading role 2 in nine of them. She is a state winner of the National Association 3 of Teachers of Singing competition. She plans to study for a 4 Masters in Vocal Performance degree from Belmont University in 5 Tennessee, and to become a recording artist and national 6 motivational speaker; and 7 8 Whereas, Heather is not only brilliant in the academic sphere, she 9 is also a caring and generous human being with deeply-rooted 10 family values and impeccably high standards; and 11 12 Whereas, we are extremely proud of Heather Hudson and are 13 delighted to recognize our “Miss South Carolina” as a goodwill 14 ambassador and role model for our State and a representative of 15 the Palmetto State who is making a difference. Now, therefore, 16 17 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 18 concurring: 19 20 That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South 21 Carolina, by this resolution, extend their best wishes and heartfelt 22 congratulations to our current “Miss South Carolina”, Heather 23 Hudson of Lexington County, on the special occasion of “Miss 24 South Carolina Appreciation Day”. 25 26 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 27 “Miss South Carolina”, Heather Hudson. 28 ----XX----
