FRYE, JR., CEO 12 OF CLARENDON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, UPON THE 13 OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER TWENTYSEVEN 14 YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM 15 CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS 16 FUTURE ENDEAVORS. 17 18 Whereas, it is altogether fitting and proper that the members of the 19 General Assembly of the State of South Carolina should pause in 20 their deliberations to express their gratitude to Edward R. Frye, Jr., 21 for his significant contributions to the citizens of our State and to 22 the field of healthcare; and 23 24 Whereas, from 1967 to 1971, Edward Frye served his country with 25 distinction as an officer in the United States Air Force; and 26 27 Whereas, he served as the administrative resident at Carolinas 28 Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, from 1971 to 1973 29 and as the administrator at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in 30 Manning from 1973 to 1976; and 31 32 Whereas, Mr. Frye returned to Charlotte for a year where he served 33 as the regional hospital director for Sunhealth, Inc., before serving 34 from 1977 to 1981 as the administrator at Chester County Hospital 35 and Nursing Center; and 36 37 Whereas, moving to Gillette, Wyoming, he served as the 38 administrator of Campbell County Memorial Hospital from 1981 39 to 1986, and then he returned to the Palmetto State to assume the 40 duties of administrator at Cheraw Nursing Home; and 41

[3470] 1 1 Whereas, since 1989, he has faithfully served as the CEO of 2 Clarendon Memorial Hospital; and 3 4 Whereas, he served as chairman and member of various 5 committees of the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA); 6 chairman of the boards of South Carolina Healthcare Resources, of 7 the Clarendon County Red Cross Blood Recruitment Committee, 8 and of Shared Services Healthcare, Inc.; and 9 10 Whereas, serving his community as a member on numerous 11 boards, he was president of Carolina Medical Center Alumni 12 Association and of the CatawbaWateree Health Education 13 Consortium and secretary of the South Carolina Health Systems 14 Agency III; and 15 16 Whereas, because of his expertise in the healthcare profession and 17 his concern for the health of those in his community, he has been 18 a presenter and keynote speaker on a variety of subjects in the field 19 of healthcare management; and 20 21 Whereas, in 1992, he was honored with inclusion in the Platinum 22 Edition of Who’s Who Worldwide, and he received the Gold 23 Award from the American Federation of Advertising in 1998 and 24 the 1999 Community Service Award from SCHA; and 25 26 Whereas, he was named the Clarendon County Business 27 Professional of the Year by the Clarendon County Chamber of 28 Commerce in 2001; and 29 30 Whereas, together with his beloved wife, Nanette, he reared two 31 fine daughters, Beth Azer and Tiffany Wells, who have blessed 32 him with seven adoring grandchildren; and 33 34 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly 35 are grateful for the years of dedication that Edward Frye has 36 devoted to healthcare in the Palmetto State and wish him many 37 years of enjoyment in his wellearned retirement.. Now, therefore, 38 39 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 40 concurring: 41 42 That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South 43 Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Edward R. Frye,
