Get Healthy Stay Healthy Challenge 2014

Applications for Proposals for the Get Healthy Stay Healthy Challenge have been extended to February 14, 2014. Some examples of the proposals we have received to date are;  Creation of school and community gardens  Purchase of equipment for “Daily Physical Activity” to take advantage of the local environment and weather conditions. i.e. snowshoes  Developing a “Cooking to Get Healthy and Stay Healthy” class for students and family members.  Funds to offset entry fees for Times Colonist 10K Run.

The Get Healthy Stay Healthy Challenge is able to provide funding for fifteen proposals with a maximum of $800 per school proposal. If you wish to access this fund please submit your proposal by February 14, 2014.

To qualify for funding, school proposals must support the learning objectives of the Get Healthy Stay Healthy Challenge.

 Students will have knowledge and understanding of what foods would be classified as healthy and unhealthy;  Students will have knowledge and understanding of the elements that make certain foods healthy or unhealthy;  Students will be able to apply their knowledge and understanding of healthy and unhealthy foods to their daily food selection as a way of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and general well-being;  Students will know and understand the value of daily physical activity in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and general well-being;  Students will be able to apply their knowledge and understanding of the value of physical activity into their daily lives.
