General Rules

The following rules are put into place to insure the competition runs smoothly and remains fair for all participants. The competition committee will make any final decisions with regards to interpretation of the rules, or other any other facet of the competition.

Upon entering a mount, you agree to the following:

Competition Hours

Mounts can only be checked in during the allotted times set forth on the schedule. Competitors are not allowed in the competition area except during allotted viewing times. All entries must remain in the competition area until 12:30 pm on Sunday January 11 and must be removed, on the same day, by 1:30 pm.

Eligibility

All entries must be tasteful and suitable for public viewing. All entries must portray taxidermy in a tasteful manner. Mounts of hurt or suffering animals, as well as pets are prohibited. Protected species will not be accepted without proper paperwork.

You do not have to attend the competition to register a mount; however, a representative must be present for a mount to be eligible.

Judged entries cannot have been entered in any previous Big Rock Sports Taxidermy Competition. You are allowed to enter a mount to be judged that has been put in Dealer’s Choice in a previous year or enter a mount in Dealer’s Choice that was previously a judged entry. You can only enter the same mount in the judged competition and Dealer’s Choice once.

Each mount must crafted entirety by the competitor, with the exception of Dealer’s Choice/Collective Artists. If the mount is proven to not have been crafted solely by the registered competitor the competition committee will determine the appropriate consequences, with disqualification a possibility.

Divisions

Upon registering your mounts, each competitor will be able to choose which division they would like to enter. If you have two mounts in the same category, you must enter them in the same division. Any Best of Category winners in previous Big Rock Sports Taxidermy Competitions will either have to remain in that division or enter into the next highest division if they plan on entering that category again.

Judging

Judge decisions are final. The competition committee reserves the right to substitute judges, if necessary. Time is allotted in the schedule for oral critiques. Critiques are limited to five minutes.

Scoring

United Taxidermist Association score sheets will be used.

Example of scoring system:

1st Place: Blue 1+, 1, 1-

2nd Place: Red 2+, 2, 2-

3rd Place: White 3+, 3, 3-

Competitor Conduct

Unsportsmanlike conduct towards judges or other competitors will not be tolerated. You may be asked to leave if behavior is deemed inappropriate. Cheating is strictly prohibited; consequences will be determined by the competition committee.

Indemnity

Entries submitted are done so at “owner’s risk.” Questions?
