CITYLINK TULLA WIDENING: BELL STREET TO PASCOE VALE ROAD BRIDGE – MAJOR CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES IN NOVEMBER

We are writing to residents to provide information on the major overnight construction activities associated with the Bell Street to Pascoe Vale Road bridge that will be taking place throughout November 2016.

The support columns for the bridge have been completed and we are now installing the support beams that will form the bridge deck. These works will take place over a three week period from Tuesday 8 November until the end of November, weather permitting. Generally, there will be one beam lifted into place almost every night during the hours of 7pm and 5am. Please see the map (overleaf) for detailed information.

Some of the beams are in excess of 50 metres in length and will require two very large cranes to lift and install them into position. To minimise impacts on drivers, these works will be completed during a series of overnight freeway closures when traffic volumes are lower.

The majority of these freeway closures will take place from Tuesday 8 November to Tuesday 15 November, weather permitting. These associated freeway ramp and lane closures will be clearly sign- posted on the freeway and at the freeway access points in the area. \ Noise levels associated with this work are expected to be minimal and there should be little if any impact on residents. Residents might experience noise from cranes operating and truck movements, there might be a small amount of general construction noise and, at times, there might be up to 80 workers involved at the site.

The main impact on residents is that there will be numerous lighting towers in operation across the site to make sure the work area is well-lit for the safety of workers. These lights will be directed towards to work area but will likely be visible to residents across the Moonee Ponds Creek Valley. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience our construction activities might cause.

We are committed to keeping residents informed while keeping the community and our workers safe at all times. If you have any questions or feedback regarding this notification, please phone 1300 783 947 and select 1 or email us at [email protected]
