Klein I.S.D. Intermediate Basketball Guidelines 2016-17

1. The 7th and 8th grade teams will have two teams for each grade if there are enough girls trying out. Maximum of 25 players per grade.

2. 7th and 8th grade teams will play four 8 minute quarters.

3. Each team will be allowed three full and two 30 second time outs.

4. Half time will be five minutes. The clock will be reset and started when the first half ends.

5. Warm-up between games will be ten minutes. The clock will be started the moment a games ends.

6. Each team will be split evenly, depending on the availability of players for that game.

7. Players CAN be moved from B team to A team (or visa versa) as the player's work and performance dictates. Whole sale movement of players from one team to another to affect the outcome of a particular game would not be acceptable.

8. Players will foul out upon receiving a "fifth" foul. Coaches will stress sound defense techniques.

9. Substitution should be planned and executed in a timely manner.

10. Home team will wear light jerseys.

12. Any changes in time, date, and location of game that is mutually agreed upon by coaches should notify parents, principals, athletic directors and updated in Rankone.

13. Eligibility: UIL rules will be followed. Birth Certificates and eligibility to be certified and kept on file with school administration. Physicals are to be on file with coaches. Age limitations: 7 th graders to old can only play 8th grade. 8th graders cannot play on the 7th grade team. 7th graders cannot be 14 years old prior to September 1st. 8th graders cannot be 15 years old prior to September 1st.

14. Admission is $2.00 adult, $1.00 students.

15. Supervision of players is to be handled by the coaches. Students must stay on the bench at all times other than half time and between games. The team waiting to leave after the game must stay together and stay seated in a designated area. If there are any problems, Athletic Directors and Principals shall be notified the next day and resolve the situation.

17. Schools may purchase wall signs for team championships. A&B teams compete for championships. Wall signs for tournaments should not be purchased. Wall signs for fans of both teams should be posted in the gymnasium. 18. All KISD regular season games will count towards District Standings. All players should play in any game for which they are eligible.

19. The first game played will be the B team then A will follow. Start times are 5:30 P.M. and 7:00 P.M.

20. Two adults will be required at the score table. One adult will take the gate and be paid by the Athletic Office.

21. OFFICIALS: Houston Chapter of TASO.  One competent TASO official may call a game by themselves.  Parents will not be used as officials.  It will be the home team coach's responsibility to verify the officials assigned to their campus. If the teams have been transported and the coaches have failed to confirm that officials were assigned, the game will not be rescheduled.  Each campus should have an official's shirt on site for a coach to use in an emergency.

22. KISD Game Guidelines  7th grade girls will play man to man defense in the first half with the following exception: a zone defense can be played when the ball is in-bounded underneath the offense's basket. Teams can remain in zone defense until they REGAIN possession. Teams will play defense beginning at half-court.  7th grade boys will play man to man defense in the first half with the following exception: a zone defense can be played when the ball is in-bounded underneath the offense's basket. Teams can remain in zone defense until they REGAIN possession. Teams can play a full court man to man defense.  All 7th grade teams have no restrictions during the second half of the game.  8th grade girls will play man to man defense in the first quarter with the following exception: a zone defense can be played when the ball is in-bounded underneath the offensive basket. Teams can remain in zone defense until they REGAIN possession. Teams will play defense beginning at half-court.  8th grade girls have no restrictions after the first quarter.  8th grade boys have no restrictions during the duration of the game.

No team shall use a press of any type if they are ahead by 15 or more points.

*Man to man is defined as closely guarded, or within a six-foot area. If the offensive player is outside the three-point line, the defender may sag to the three-point line. (Ex. Shell drill-on ball, help, deny defense)

23. All games are to be video taped by the home team. If another team is in violation of above rules, send a copy of the game tape to Athletic Director for viewing.

24. The head coach is responsible to ensure that all guidelines are followed.

25. Each coach is responsible for submitting game scores into Rankone. Campus Coordinators will input scores into the district wide Google document in order to track win-loss records for the season.

26. Each coach will consult with the high school head coach as to which offense and defense they should be teaching.

27. One game during the season may be played at the prospective high school. (Ex. Strack vs. Schindewolf @ Klein Collins) Revised: 11/16/16
