The academic year will begin with orientation Day on Friday, October 16, 2009. Orientation Day is an integral part of your study program and attendance is mandatory. It is designed to assist you in successfully integrating into the IDC and it is one of the activities distinguishing the IDC and its outlook. On orientation Day the advisors, who are MA program alumni, will be accompanying you to meetings with the school’s faculty, administration and other staff at the IDC. At these meetings, the unique vision of the IDC and its method of operation will be presented. In addition, the advisors will hold meetings in small groups in order to acclimate you with the academic processes of the IDC. They will also provide you with the initial tools that will assist you in your integration on campus.

The schedule for the orientation Day and the handbook (which includes the schedule of classes, list of courses, schedule of exams etc) – will be posted during September 2009 on the MA program website ( www.idc.ac.il/gov/eng/MA ). PREPARATORY COURSES

HEBREW COURSE – ULPAN

Students are provided the opportunity to study Hebrew at the IDC. Students interested in doing so will be given a placement test during the week of October 11th, and divided into classes based on their test results. HEALTH INSURANCE

All IDC Herzliya students are required to have comprehensive health insurance coverage throughout their studies and to provide IDC Herzliya with documentation of this. We have made special arrangements to insure international students who are not covered by Israel’s compulsory health insurance legislation. The insurance plan with Hilit (see next page) provides comprehensive health coverage for an annual $500. U.S. membership fee. Please note: According to Israel’s compulsory health insurance legislation, all Israeli citizens including new immigrants (olim hadashim) are entitled to receive health insurance for a low monthly fee. New immigrants are entitled to six months of free health insurance under the national insurance legislation (bituah leumi). After the initial six months, new immigrants are entitled to the same health insurance as all other Israeli citizens. Health Insurance

The Hilit agency has worked for years with foreign nationals who come to Israel for study, business, or touring purposes. We work with all of the biggest insurance companies which gives us an advantage in that we can provide health insurance coverage tailored to each person's needs.

The health care that we provide you offers medical services that operate a call center with

Hebrew/English speakers which work 24 hours a day including weekends and holidays.

You will receive an insurance card with a policy number, and when you have a medical problem or if you need medical treatment, you simply call the medical call center, at anytime during the day or night, and they will guide you.

The policy covers emergency expenses as a result of diabetes, asthma and allergies as a pre-existing condition (excluding expenses for routine treatments). 3. No co-payment or deductible is required in events covered by this policy.
