Surrey County Council supports Dignity Action Day

6:00am Thursday 25th February 2010

A national day to raise awareness of people’s rights to dignity in care is being supported by local bodies.

NHS Surrey, Surrey County Council and Surrey Care Association have all voiced their support for today’s National Dignity Action Day.

Councillor Michael Gosling said: “Most of us at some point in our lives will be in contact with care services, either in our work, as an individual who’s received a service, a carer, relative or friend and when we do will be treated with dignity and respect.

“This isn’t an optional extra - it’s a basic human right and one that we take very seriously in adult social care.”

Dignity Action Day is a national initiative led by the Dignity in Care Campaign and people from all walks of life are signing up as dignity champions.
