<p>Kingston Guardian</p><p>Surrey County Council supports Dignity Action Day</p><p>6:00am Thursday 25th February 2010</p><p>A national day to raise awareness of people’s rights to dignity in care is being supported by local bodies. </p><p>NHS Surrey, Surrey County Council and Surrey Care Association have all voiced their support for today’s National Dignity Action Day. </p><p>Councillor Michael Gosling said: “Most of us at some point in our lives will be in contact with care services, either in our work, as an individual who’s received a service, a carer, relative or friend and when we do will be treated with dignity and respect. </p><p>“This isn’t an optional extra - it’s a basic human right and one that we take very seriously in adult social care.” </p><p>Dignity Action Day is a national initiative led by the Dignity in Care Campaign and people from all walks of life are signing up as dignity champions. </p><p>To become a dignity champion call 020 7972 4007 or sign visit dignityincare.org.uk for more information.</p>
