Miss Horsemanship Queen – 17-21 Teen Horsemanship Queen – 13-16 Sweetheart Horsemanship Queen 9-12 Princess Horsemanship Queen- 5-8 Lil’ Miss Queen, Lead Line – 0-8 Mrs. Queen, Must be Married

General Rules 1. The contestant must be single; never been married, pregnant and /or had a child. (does not apply to Mrs. Queen.) 2. The contestant must be a female and a legal resident of Ashley County. 3. NO STALLIONS ARE PERMITTED. No tie-downs are allowed in horsemanship competition. 4. All riders will use split reins in horsemanship. (Princess and Lil’ Miss divisions, split reins are optional) 5. Score sheets & comments will be returned by mail. 6. If there is only one contestant in an age division, she must compete in all categories to win the title.

Judging Each contestant will be judged on appearance, personality and horsemanship. There will be three appointed judges, who are qualified to judge a contest of this kind. Manners, behavior and grooming will be observed at all times from orientation to the crowning ceremony. Judges’ decision is final. Poor sportsmanship, tardiness, interference or otherwise inappropriate conduct will affect your score. Rule violations could result in disqualification, from this and future contests.

Horses Arkansas horses must be accompanied by the original report of negative EIA test within 12 months prior to exhibitions. Horses from out of the state require an original health certificate issued within 30 days prior to exhibition. Photocopies will not be accepted.

Interview/ Modeling Contestant can wear outfit of choice, no leather dresses. Example, western dress or pants, no skirts more than 3 inches above knee.

Dress Requirements Hats, Boots, belts are required during all phases of the competition, including the interview. During horsemanship competition, contestants should wear blue jeans and long sleeved white western shirts, boots, belt and cowboy hats. Chaps and gloves are not allowed.

Photos 5X7 The photo should be a head and shoulders shot. The contestant must be dressed in tasteful western attire, including a cowboy hat, no crowns. The photo must not be framed or mounted. Failure to submit the photo with the application and entry fee by the deadline will lead to point deductions. Please do not email photos. Print Name, date and address on the back of photos.

Horsemanship Each contestant will be given a horsemanship pattern; you will be judged on control, body position, personal appearance, and knowledge. Each contestant will do a queen run after completing the pattern.

If a contestant chooses not to compete after submitting her application, REFUNDS must be approved by the Ashley County Fair Board.

After Crowning It is required that each queen attend the following: * the Ashley County Fair Parade, Miss will carry the American Flag and the Teen will carry the Arkansas Flag, the court will follow. So, you will need a flag boot. *Attend the Second Sunday Dinner lunches during her reign, 3 times * Attend the Hamburg Rodeo and Crossett Rodeo Parades * Attend the rodeo(Crossett and Hamburg) a minimum of 1 night each, * Ride in the Christmas parade (Crossett and Hamburg) If you are unable to attend please notify the director 24 hours in advance and should it be an emergency situation contact ASAP. Each queen is required to be at the pageant the following year. The queens will keep social media posts tasteful and modest.

**The contestant crowned Miss Ashley County Horsemanship Queen is required to compete at the Arkansas State Fair Rodeo Queen Contest.

Schedule for the Pageant TUESDAY, September 5 at 6 PM in the Buddy Griever Building. We will practice and meet for orientation. If you have questions, please ask them at this time. Saturday, September 9 2 PM at the Ashley County Fair Arena Horsemanship will be judged first, starting with the youngest age group. Following the judging, interviews will be held at the Maxwell Hill Building. Modeling, impromptu and crowning at 7 PM at the Maxwell Hill Building. This will be open to the public, $5 admission. One PARENT WILL RECEIVE A PASS.
