Current November Budget Report (submitted by Deb) The Operations (M&I) Checking Account balance is $8,730.07 The Operations (Beacon) Checking Account balance is $826.90 The Operations (I&M) Savings Account balance is $85.73 The Operations (Beacon) Savings Account balance is $5,412.48 The MM/Equipment & Contingency Fund Account Total balance is $38,934.43 The MM/Equipment & Contingency Funds Principle balance is $21,933.87 The MM/Equipment & Contingency Funds Available balance is $1,050.54 The COPED Principle Account balance is $15,571.25 The COPED Available balance is $611.10 (which includes interest from $10,000 CD, $1,000 donation, $4,000 from 2003 Fall Conference surplus, $571.25 from 2004 Fall Conference silent auction, $1,215 donation from the 2007 budget, $634.50 from 2008 Fall Conference silent auction and all interest from the Beacon Savings Account as of 6/24/11 – to be added before Spring and Fall Conferences, $1,238 donation from 2011 Fall Conference Silent Auction)

AWARDS COMMITTEE – Adam Rickert – NO REPORT

The updated applications could not be voted on at the December Board meeting due to lack of quorum. The updated forms will be discussed and voted on at the January 2013 meeting. Once approved by the Board, the updated applications will be discussed with the membership at the Spring Conference in April 2013.

COMMITTEE ON PROFESSIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (COPED) COMMITTEE – Todd Webb – NO REPORT

PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE – Ed Norris

The Fall/Winter Journal has been posted to the website. Again, two formats are available, the standard PDF file and the “flip-page” format. There is some technical difficulty with the flip-version at this time. The deadline for the Spring Journal is the end of March 2013. NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION (NEHA) LIAISON – Joshua Williams – NO REPORT

NOTE: 2012 Membership for Joshua Williams has been processed (according to NEHA Affiliate Presidents and at least one other member of an Affiliate’s Board (preferably the successor to the president) shall be either Active or Life Members of NEHA. Joshua Williams is the 2012 Liaison to NEHA.

There was discussion about IEHA submitting a poster session for the July 9 to 11, 2013 AEC in Washington, DC.

NOTE: Indianapolis was not picked for the NEHA AEC in 2015.

INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR FOOD PROTECTION (IAFP) LIAISON – Dr. Haley Oliver – NO REPORT

NOTE: 2012 Membership for Joshua Williams has been processed (according to IAFP one of the requirements to maintain IEHA status as an IAFP Affiliate is that the President and Delegate must be active members of IAFP. Dr. Oliver is the 2012 IEHA Delegate to IAFP.

NOTE: The 2014 IAFP Annual Educational Conference will be in Indianapolis. This conference will bring in about 2500 attendees. IAFP is looking to IEHA for approximately 200 volunteers and to participate on the local area planning committee.

FOOD PROTECTION COMMITTEE – Sharon Breckenridge and George Horning – Co-Chairs – NO REPORT

WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE – Denise Wright

The last meeting was December 13 in the IDEM Conference Room at 2525 North Shadeland at 1:00 pm. The Committee is working on a document for the website on pump sizing and does tank sizing. Denise presented info on the cost estimate to print 1500 Outlet Filter Brochures. Since there was not a quorum at the meeting Tami will send an e- mail to all voting members to get approval to proceed with printing as there is a special price this weekend. (NOTE: There was a quorum in favor of the print cost).

GENERAL ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SERVICES COMMITTEE – submitted by Jason Ravenscroft

The next meeting is scheduled for January 9 at the ISDH Office at Shadeland at 10:00 am.

TERRORISM AND ALL-HAZARDS PREPAREDNESS COMMITTEE – Jennifer Rekers and Jason LeMaster - Co- Chairs

Jennifer submitted a request for the TAHP $125 line item in the budget, that was originally requested for Fall Conference speaker fees but was not used for that purpose, to be used for the purchase of wholesale items that could be sold to benefit the TAHP Committee. There was not a quorum therefore this request was tabled until the January 2013 meeting.

Jennifer also submitted a resolution (Resolution No. 12-01) to change the structure of the TAHP Committee in the By-Laws. There was not a quorum therefore the vote on the resolution was tabled until the January 2013 meeting. Minutes of the December 21, 2012 IEHA Executive Board Meeting Page Five

INDIANA PUBLIC HEALTH ASSOCIATION (IPHA) – Rachel Fuhr – NO REPORT

INDIANA ONSITE WASTEWATER PROFESSIONALS ASSOCIATION (IOWPA) LIAISON – Jerry Maule for Dave Sweet

Jerry reported the Annual Conference is scheduled for January 28 & 29 at Camp Camby, Indiana. A final agenda will be posted to the website at www.iowpa.org. He also reported that the new Residential On-site Sewage Disposal Rule 410 IAC 6-8.3 was distributed to all certified installers with a form to sign and return indicating they were aware of the rule.

INDIANA PUBLIC HEALTH TRAINING CENTER – Kate Nicholson Johnson – NO REPORT

INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT (IDEM) LIAISON – Mike Sutton

Mike reported that in the Office of Land Quality, the CAFO/CFO Compliance Section was created, separating it from the Solid Waste Section. The Hoosier Riverwatch Program has been transferred from DNR to the Office of Land Quality as well. This program brings training to the public associated with water quality. It not only teaches the public how to monitor waterways, but IDEMs monitoring programs will actually use the data they collect.

INDIANA STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH (ISDH) LIAISON – submitted by George Jones

George distributed information on the ISDH environmental programs. Laurie Kidwell has joined the Food Protection Program as a Grant Manager for the Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards. The Food Protection Program is collaborating with Laboratory Services to offer food sampling training across the state. Purdue University is offering Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) training in January, February and March 2013.

BOARD OF ANIMAL HEALTH (BOAH) LIAISON – Dr. Jim Hollis

Dr. Hollis reported there have been some organizational changes. At this point, there is no raw milk update. The report is available on the website.

POLICY COMMITTEE – Joshua Williams – NO REPORT

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) COMMITTEE – Mike Mettler

Mike reported that the current IEHA website has been moved to Wild Apricot. Members can now pay membership dues on-line via PayPal.

FALL CONFERENCE (2012) – Christine Stinson

There will be a surplus of $14,645.93, once all the outstanding checks have been collected. Christine asked for ideas for use of some of the surplus to be e-mailed to her for discussion at the January 2013 Board meeting.

SPRING CONFERENCE (2013) – Denise Wright

The Spring Conference will be on April 18 at the Fort Harrison State Park in the Blue Herron Room of the Garrison Conference Center. Please send speaker and/or topic suggestions to Denise at [email protected]. Minutes of the December 21, 2012 IEHA Executive Board Meeting Page Six

FALL CONFERENCE (2013) – Mike Mettler

Mike reported the location for the 2013 Fall Conference is changed to the Courtyard Fort Wayne Downtown at Grand Wayne Convention Center, 1150 South Harrison Street. The dates are September 23, 24 and 25. The Tuesday night outing may possibly be at the Baseball Field.

OLD BUSINESS (NOTE: ISU in Terre Haute has a new conference facility and is interested in hosting an IEHA Fall Conference.)

Christine Stinson requested that Board members update their current job descriptions so they can be passed on to the new Board members in 2013. Tami distributed copies of current Job Descriptions to be returned to her for updating and distribution.

Mike Sutton provided more information on water purification projects. It is easier to arrange to do internationally than it is domestically. The IEHA Strike Team is trained on purifiers. There was discussion on IEHA purchasing purifiers.

NEW BUSINESS

Christine Stinson established the Safe Water Committee as part of the Board for 2013. Jason Doerflein will Chair this Committee.

Jennifer Warner asked that Chapters not use petty cash. Donated money should be deposited into checking accounts and checks written for expenses (for recording keeping purposes).

Christine Stinson and Mike Mettler reported that the 2013 Aquatic Health Conference will be in Indianapolis from October 16 to 18 at the Hyatt Regency Downtown. The National Swimming Pool Foundation will host a pre-conference event on swimming pools.

CHAPTER REPORTS (All Chapter Reports should be submitted to the Secretary in writing)

NORTHWEST CHAPTER – submitted by Pat Sovinski for Rita Hooton

The last meeting was held on December 19. The meeting was held at Miller’s Home Care in New Carlisle. The speaker was Melissa Papp, Environmental Specialist at the St. Joseph County Health Department. She spoke about lead and healthy homes program. The next meeting will be held in Marshall County.

NORTHEAST CHAPTER - submitted by Patrick Sovinski

The last meeting was December 20 in DeKalb County. The speakers were Dawn McDevitt, ISDH and Steve Kasten, Kasten’s Dog Training, Inc Contain-A-Pet. Their topics were Non-Profit Food Services, Youth Camps, etc and Dog Bite Avoidance, respectively. The next meeting is scheduled for January 17 in Elkhart County.

WABASH VALLEY CHAPTER – submitted by Ed Norris

The last meeting was at the Fire Station in Rochester on December 6. Rhonda Madden and Stanley Danao, ISDH presented a demonstration of CodePal. The Chapter agreed on 2013 meeting dates. The Chapter’s community outreach program will be donations to a local food pantry. The next meeting is scheduled for February 14 at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds.

EAST CENTRAL CHAPTER – submitted by Stephanie Cain (Mike Sutton)

The last meeting was held at The Edge in Madison County.

WEST CENTRAL CHAPTER – submitted by Lisa Harrison – NO REPORT

SOUTHERN CHAPTER – submitted by Jennifer Rekers

The next meeting is scheduled for February 13. 2013 Chapter Officers are: Dan Schroeder, President; Bil Tuley, Vice President; Diane Knies, Treasurer; Jennifer Rekers, Secretary, Food Protection Committee Rep and Executive Board Rep.

SOUTHEASTERN CHAPTER – submitted by Todd Webb – NO REPORT

CENTRAL CHAPTER – submitted by Kim Wolfla - NO REPORT

Mike Mettler entertained a motion to adjourn the meeting. Patrick Sovinski moved that the meeting be adjourned, it was seconded by Adam Rickert and passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 11:15 am.
