Ohio Union Council Meeting February 16, 2006

Updates: Student organization leases: - met with Michael Layish (legal department) - Will meet with Matt Couch to work on re-wording and then meet again with Michael Layish.

Additional members: - Faculty senate approved the addition of one more representative from the community to the Ohio Union Council.

Financial Update – Dave Wiseley: - Dave gave an update on the budget for the Ohio Union (handout provided). He discussed the operating budget and the Ohio Union project reserves. - Overview of the 2005 fiscal year (revenue and expenses) - 2005-2006 year-to-date comparison - Discussed challenges of managing the next 12-15 months

Ohio Union Replacement Project update – Tracy Stuck & Dave Wiseley: - Possible deadline change for move-out (from December to April). Should know by tomorrow for sure. - Fawcett Center slated to be ready in April, however, plans for transition to Fawcett currently on hold. - Will be checking other available facilities on campus - Met with DRB (Design Review Board) - SPHINX committed to 2 rooms in the new facility - Staters will have their Board meeting on 3/4 to decide on their gift

OUAB (Ohio Union Activities Board) – Dominic Rollins - Interviews for the executive board will take place this month. Dominic asked for suggestions of interview questions to ask the applicants. - Coming up with a process for selecting a representative from OUAB to serve on the Ohio Union Planning Committee for the new building. - Talked about spring programming ideas - $400,000 left in budget for programming for the year. - Kay made an appeal to the graduate and professional students at the meeting regarding the need for a new G&P committee chair to help plan events geared towards G&P students.

Suggestions for interview questions for OUAB exec board: - Press for creative people (enrich group to not get into a formula) - How do they react in stressful situations

Announcements: - BuckeyeThon raised more than $40,000.00 - Student Activity fee survey will launch on Monday - Next meeting March 9 – presentation on Explore Columbus Program
